Lhong Tou Cafe at Yaowarat — Restaurant in Samphanthawong Subdistrict

Here's sum dim fancy to add to your next trip to Bangkok! Situated in the Yaowarat area, Lhong Tou Cafe @lhongtoucafe_official is worth the visit for its hipster dim sum and unique double-decked seats (swipe all the way right to see the vibes of the cafe). We ordered their Chinese New Year Dim Sum Set (299THB for 2 pax), which was somewhat fitting considering CNY is around the corner. Its unique presentation, featuring a mixture of dim sum dishes served in one giant steamer basket, caught our eye! Our favourite item was the Salted Egg Lava Bun for its flowy sweet-savoury custard encased within the flaky, crispy exterior. The Mandarin Orange Cake was also delicious - we couldn't get enough of its fluffy cake texture and orange jelly! 🍊 ⁣ ⁣ Also got their signature Lhong Tou Shumai as an ala carte add-on! The dumplings were meaty but it was their super addictive Mala sauce that got us all fired up. 🔥 Vinegary and numbingly spicy! เป็นร้านอาหารและคาเฟ่สไตล์จีน ดูจากเมนูอาหารแล้วรู้สึกเหมือนฮ่องกงเพราะมีติ่มซำ ข้าวต้ม และข้าวอบหม้อดิน แต่ชื่อร้านหลงโถว (ภาษาอังกฤษ Lhong Tou และภาษาจีน 龙头 ซึ่งน่าสนใจว่าเขาเลือกใช้จีนตัวย่อแทนที่จะเป็นจีนตัวเต็ม) เมนูอาหารอร่อยดี ตอนแรกว่าจะสั่งชุดข้าวต้ม แต่พอเห็นในเมนูว่าข้าวอบหม้อดินหมูกรอบคั่วพริกเกลือมีแค่วันละ 50 เซ็ต ก็เลยเปลี่ยนใจมาเลือกเมนูนี้แทน ซึ่งก็อร่อยนะ หมูกรอบก็กรอบดี แห้ง แต่เนื้อหมูไม่แข็ง แต่ไม่ถึงขนาดที่ต้องจงใจเลือกเมนูนี้เพราะมีแค่วันละ 50 เซ็ต นอกจากนี้ก็มีสั่งขนมจีบ อกเป็ดรมควัน และชุดติ่มซำมงคลด้วย ถ้าให้รีวิวก็จะประมาณนี้

• ขนมจีบ เป็นไส้หมูสับที่แน่นมาก อร่อย และกินทีมีอิ่มได้ง่ายๆ จุดเด่นคือน้ำจิ้มที่เป็นหม่าล่า ไม่ใช่จิ๊กโฉ่วเหมือนขนมจีบทั่วไป รสชาติหม่าล่าไม่แรง ไม่เผ็ดมาก กินสบายอยู่

• อกเป็ดรมควัน ดมแล้วได้กลิ่นควันหอมเลย อร่อยดี แต่จืดๆ หน่อย ถ้าอยากให้มีรสชาติ เอาไปจิ้มน้ำจิ้มขนมจีบเลย

• ติ่มซำมงคล อร่อยนะ ในเมนูบอกเป็นเซ็ตสำหรับ 2 คน แต่เอาจริงๆ กินคนเดียวได้อยู่ เค้กส้มหน้านิ่มที่อยู่ตรงกลาง รสชาติเฉยๆ แต่เซ็ตนี้คือเซ็ตที่สั่งเซ็ตเดียว ได้ครบคาวหวานเลย

เครื่องดื่มผมสั่งบ๊วยโซดาและสมูทตี้สตรอว์เบอร์รี่ลิ้นจี่ รสชาติถือว่าธรรมดา คิดว่าสั่งพวกกาแฟโบราณอาจจะดีกว่า แต่ดูจากเมนูแล้ว ร้านนี้เครื่องดื่มออกแนวหวานหน่อยครับ พวกของว่างก็ออกแนวหวานเช่นกัน

โดยรวม ถือว่าดี ร้านมีการตกแต่งที่สวย และมีกิมมิกตรงที่นั่งที่มีแบบสองชั้น อาหารถือว่าใช้ได้ แต่ราคาก็ค่อนข้างสูงเช่นกัน

This is a Chinese-style restaurant and café. Looking at the menu, it feels like Hong Kong, with dim sum, rice porridge, and clay pot rice dishes. The name of the restaurant is "Lhong Tou" (in Chinese: 龙头), and it's interesting that they chose to use simplified Chinese instead of traditional Chinese. The food is quite good. Initially, I planned to order the rice porridge set, but when I saw that the crispy pork clay pot rice with salt and chili is limited to only 50 sets per day, I changed my mind and ordered that instead. It was tasty—the crispy pork was crunchy and dry, but the meat wasn't tough. However, I wouldn't say it's worth ordering just because it's limited to 50 sets. Besides that, I also ordered shumai, smoked duck breast, and the auspicious dim sum set. Here's my review:

• The shumai is packed with minced pork, very filling, and delicious. The highlight is the dipping sauce, which is mala (spicy numbing sauce) instead of the usual black vinegar, but the mala isn't too strong or too spicy, making it enjoyable.

• The smoked duck breast had a lovely smoky aroma, and it tasted good, though a bit bland. You could dip it in the shumai's mala sauce for more flavor.

• The auspicious dim sum set was tasty. The menu says it's for two people, but honestly, one person could finish it. The soft orange cake in the middle was just average. This set is convenient because you get both savory and sweet in one order.

For drinks, I ordered the plum soda and the strawberry-lychee smoothie. The taste was just okay. I think the traditional coffee might have been a better choice. Based on the menu, the drinks here lean towards the sweeter side, and the snacks are also on the sweet side.

Overall, it's a good place. The décor is beautiful, with a two-level seating arrangement that's quite unique. The food is decent, but the prices are on the higher side.

• 烟熏鸭胸闻起来有很浓的烟熏香味，味道还不错，但有点淡。如果想要更多味道，可以蘸烧卖的麻辣酱。

Trap. Don’t eat here if you want real dim sum. The food is all microwaved (you can see it in the kitchen). The clay pot rice is not even cooked in the clay pot. It’s probably just microwaved and put in the pot (bc it has no flavour and super dry, when it’s made in the clay pot it does not taste like this). We got their “recommended” crispy pork clay pot and the crispy pork was so tasteless and dried, probably microwaved, worst crispy pork I’ve ever had in my life. Even the 7 Eleven microwaved ones are better and less dry. Huge disappointment. There’s huge line ups so we waited a long time for this subpar dried microwaved food. All these blogs are talking about this place saying it’s good, they are probably just saying it bc it’s a “hyped” place - we even saw tour guides come and say it’s a “trendy place.” It’s also expensive for that you get (I honestly wouldn’t pay any amount of money to eat this quality of food). 500 for not even enough food for 2 people.
