Pork Brain Soup (Kaolao Samong Moo) – Phraeng Nara Neighborhood (near the Tiger God Shrine)
If you’re someone who enjoys trying rare or unique dishes, this hidden gem is a must-visit. This old-school spot is tucked inside a vintage wooden building in the heart of the city, full of classic charm that feels like stepping back in time. Despite the nostalgic setting, the kitchen — located right at the front — is clean and well-organized.
Signature Dish: • Pork Brain Soup – The broth is rich, savory, and perfectly balanced. It comes with various types of meatballs — some firm, some bouncy — and generous chunks of pork brain. Surprisingly, the brain is very clean, tender, and not gamey at all. • Steamed Rice – Light, fluffy, and dry-grained — a perfect match with the soup. • Liver Sausage (Gun Chiang Tub) – Displayed in a glass case out front. It’s a must-try! Firm, flavorful, with a slight liver aroma. Tastes amazing with a drizzle of sweet soy sauce.
Atmosphere: Medium-sized restaurant with several tables. The open kitchen is right at the entrance, letting you see everything being freshly prepared. Customers come and go throughout the day, but it never feels overcrowded.
Owner: The sweet grandma who runs the place is incredibly kind and polite — it feels like visiting a relative’s home for a comforting meal.
Overall: Perfect for adventurous eaters looking for something different but genuinely delicious. Clean, affordable, and full of charm. A taste of old Bangkok that’s hard to find these days.

So rich in history and the deep root in great attention on details especially the presentation and selecting the best ingredients with such an affordable price.
MUST try all the small side dishes. Super tasty and yet the price is truly reasonable. If you are in the area don’t miss it.
