Question: Was it our fault that the restaurant did not get our reservation on Diningcity?
Edited stars rating: because restaurant replied many reviews but clealry ignore my comments.
I had made a reservation at Giglio Trattoria Florentina on the web for 1st October. There are two options between booking via Chope or Diningcity, and I chose Diningcity. Then I got two messages on SMS, one to confirm and one to remind. Plus, I got four emails from Google and Diningcity, two each, one to confirm and one to remind.
I showed up at 15:52 and I could not find a way in because, I only saw big renovation on the ground floor of this restaurant. No-one said anything but I believed there must be a way to get in, and I found the stairs on the right side. I informed my reservation name to Mr. Soe (the waiter). He checked and he replied there was no reservation under my name. I showed him my confirmation booking on email and I also recommended him to contact Diningcity’s customer service to avoid any mistake for the next one. He checked again and he later seated us at a table. Me and Mr. Soe talked a bit so I knew that the next reservation was at 18:00 and today was fully booked.
Everything went well and smooth until Chef Manuelo Pintore showed up and mentioned about reservations with his staff. Well, the place is not that large (on the 3rd floor) and we could all hear your conversation enough to understand what you were talking about. He was not only talk unfriendly to his staffs but was rude to his customers, which is us, by saying “they have to go out” to his staff.
We clearly understood that your restaurant was fully booked tonight. Why did not you talk about us somewhere else instead of in the dinging room where we could hear? We made a reservation at 16:00 and we could easily finish before 18:00, especially when Mr. Soe had kindly informed us since the beginning.
Later on, 3-4 staffs kept walking around our table which there was only a table by that time. We could feel that they needed a table by 18:00 and I felt like I was in a zoo where people kept walking to us even there was nothing going on.
Service: Mr. Soe was extremely polite. Waitresses were nice too and willingly to take photos for us.
Management team: You should put a sign or anything to inform customers that restaurant is under renovation and we can go up by the stairs on the side.
Chef Manuelo Pintore: You may have a bad day or in stress about finding your customers table at 18:00. But after you showed up at around 17:00, you had completely destroyed my appertite.
Luckily the tiramisu had cheered me...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Giglio Trattoria Fiorentina with my family, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This cozy Italian restaurant truly captures the essence of traditional Florentine dining, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in.
The staff at Giglio Trattoria Fiorentina were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our every need was met throughout the evening. The chef himself visited our table two or three times, which was a wonderful touch and made us feel valued as guests. His passion for food was evident in every dish that was served, and we were impressed by his dedication to providing an authentic Italian dining experience.
The wine list, though small, was carefully curated and offered excellent value. We appreciated the thoughtfulness in selecting wines that complemented the menu perfectly without overwhelming us with too many choices. Each glass we had paired beautifully with the courses we ordered, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Now, let’s talk about the food – it was nothing short of amazing. We started with a selection of cold cuts and cheese, which was the perfect way to begin our meal. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, and the flavors were rich and satisfying. The pasta and gnocchi were both cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of sauce to balance the dishes. The ribeye steak was tender and flavorful, cooked exactly as we requested. For dessert, we indulged in the tiramisu, one of the best we’ve ever had, and the ricotta cheese ice cream, which was simply divine.
As a family, we were thoroughly impressed with Giglio Trattoria Fiorentina. The only suggestion I would make is to consider adding a kids’ menu, as it would be a nice addition for families dining with young children. Nevertheless, we had an unforgettable meal and will undoubtedly return. Giglio Trattoria Fiorentina has become one of our favorite Italian spots in the city, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and delightful...
Read moreYesterday, the three of us went to Ristorante Giglio on the recommendation of friends. The location is truly beautiful, and I really like the restaurant’s interior design. The food was okay to good, but certainly not outstanding. For appetizers, we had the artichoke salad, the beef tartare, and the bruschetta with Largo. The beef tartare was absolutely bland, unseasoned, and topped with a few slices of Parmesan. The meat itself tasted good and was of high quality, but the dish lacked any character. The artichoke salad wasn’t bad, and the bruschetta was delicious, which was the highlight of the appetizers.
For the second course, we had three pasta dishes, which were served on unheated plates, causing the pasta to become lukewarm very quickly, diminishing the overall flavor experience—except for the Gnocchi Al Forno, which was served way too hot. For our main course, we had a Bistecca Fiorentina, which was unfortunately also served on an unheated plate. Serving a more than 8,000 Baht steak on a cold plate is, of course, a shame. The side dishes with our main course were okay but lacked character as well. The tomato salad was served without red onions, the roasted potatoes were without any seasoning like rosemary, which is very typical of Italian cuisine, and the spinach was just okay.
For dessert, we had two Panna Cotta Al Forno, which were really tasty, and a caramel tart (if I remember correctly), which was also not bad. Our bill came to 19,000 Baht in the end, without any alcoholic beverages—just three bottles of water, which is, of course, a hefty sum. My conclusion: the food was okay, and it’s worth a try. I might go back for a pasta, but I wouldn’t spend another full evening dining there and spending that much money again.
Now, about the service. It was okay, but not up to the standard I’m used to in high-end restaurants. Besides us, there were only three or four other tables occupied in the entire restaurant that evening. I can’t imagine how the service would have been if the restaurant had been...
