A friend recommended this place based on online reviews. It's the first cafe I visited in Thailand and it may be the only one I go to in Bangkok.
My mocha was rich and smooth. Not bitter and not too sweet. Care was taken to ensure the chocolate was thoroughly melted. The milk was warmed to a perfect temperature so I could drink it immediately without burning my lip.
The menu is overwhelming with so many yummy western style options, including eggs & soldiers (a childhood favourite!). My Rocket's Benedict 4.0 (295b) breakfast was delightful. The eggs were done perfectly (not runny but not dry) and sat atop a flaky croissant. The arugula salad was a welcome change from the typical carbs served with breakfast. It had a light dressing and complimented the rest of the meal well. I think I would have preferred the salmon to the small bits of chorizo, but it was an extra fee to change.
The service was friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere is quiet and calm - great for conversation or reading the newspaper. Not sure about wifi quality or outlet availability. I found the bar to be a great place to strike up conversation with other patrons/travellers. I was also treated to a sample of an iced coffee, which I enjoyed.
I will return time permitting and would...
Read moreRocket is a staple in Bangkok breakfast culture and a solid recommendation for every traveler staying around Sathorn for a good breakfast or coffee. The quality of food and drinks are high. The prices also high. I would use the place primarily for meetups for a good talk where it matters that no loud music or background noise disturbs the conversation (often construction around though). The bill after such meetings is always way too high for what is offered but I still find myself coming back. They seem to do something right. The service is above par in Bangkok. There are negatives. The place is small to a point that you always have neighbors overhear your conversations. That is often welcomes by travelers that seek contact. Not always a good thing though. Particular as a sort of younger freelance women and guys tend to occupy tables long term in order to seek the next customer. Not always obvious just be aware that the friendly, perfect English speaking Thai next to you that makes friendly contact not only is enchanted by your personality. I give it a mixed recommendation. It has solid strengths but also significant downsides. Knowing what you get into it does not harm to try. You...
Read moreService is below standard compared to such pricey dishes. We had bad experience dining here. There are limited car park space in front so my bf and I parked at the near carpark paying 50 baht/hr. We came in the shop, wanting to dine in, ordered two big breakfast dishes & coffee & juice so probably would take more than 1 hr so we kept watching to move our car here. Few mins later one table left so there was one car park space available. We simply ask the staff to hold the space while my bf ran to get the car which was only nearby (like 1 min away). Few seconds later the staff let new customer park at that space and told me he could not hold. Those new customers parked, bought 2 coffees and ended up leaving the shop while they still left the car in front. The whole experience was just bad. They didnt even serve the coffee according to queue. One foreign guy came in after us, ordered and got coffee before us. Personally, I found the coffee good, food average, services sub-standard. Overall if the shop add value by providing great service, it’s probably still worth it. But to me, this would be my...
