Really wanted to try this restaurant, considering it went a little viral on TikTok for the other outlet.
I have to say the entire dining experience was more high-end than I thought, since it was a Michelin Bib Gourmand location. It felt more like an upper-middle-class dining experience where people dress decently. We felt a little underdressed with our Songkran fit, but didn't get denied for eating here.
💧Water is chargeable at 30 Baht
Here is what we had: 🍄 Crispy Mushrooms & Lotus Roots - 200B This was massive. Ideal for sharing between 3 pax. With its array of vegetables like leaves, lotus, and different mushrooms, this was easily a favourite for how light the batter is, and the crispiness is so good. Doesn’t feel as greasy, surprisingly. It also came with a passionfruit dip that we felt was a little bit too sweet for our preference for a dip-fry dish. I rate: 5/5 🌟
🥬 Ka Lum Tod Nam Pla - 190B This is the alleged dish that had the Michelin sticker on it. And it was simply fried Chinese cabbage, but with premium fish sauce from Trad province! I have to say this is a really decent cabbage dish. It's so rich in umami, and the texture of the cabbage still retained its crunch. The presentation style was interestingly laid out side by side in big, unbroken leaves. So it’s a big mouthful every bite. I rate: 4/5 🌟
🥚 Son-in-Law Eggs - 190B Read up on the lore behind the name of this dish, and I cackled. Fried medium-boiled eggs, served with three-flavor sauce and fried shallots. The core of the yolks was still runny, and the sauce was very umami! I can see myself eating this with rice! I rate: 3.8/5 🌟
🍲 Moo Cha Muang - 280B This stew tastes oddly homey and comforting. Chunks of tender pork meat stewed with Thai herbs and cha muang leaves, which are lightly fragrant and a little tangy. The pork chunks were stewed to release their tender collagen, and the meat was not fibrous. I was having second thoughts about not ordering a bowl of rice for this meal, but I really think I should’ve. I rate: 4/5 🌟
🍝 Sen Chan Pad Pu - 490B This was a miss for us. Al dente Pad Thai rice noodles stir-fried with colossal crabmeat lumps that, honestly, were pretty generous—and probably the bulk of the cost goes to the crab meat. The portion size of the noodles was small, and the sauce used was really not it. Tasted quite like tomato paste and ‘chilli crab’. It's a big no for me at this price. I rate: 1/5 🌟
🍹 Supanniga Blend (Ice) - 220B Sounds pretty cool for a drink’s name, but it was really ‘clean’. It's a carafe of Tie Guan Yin Oolong/Ginger/Lemongrass/Kaffir Lime in a clear drink. Flavour-wise, it’s close to none and very subtle in Thai aromatics. I would say this is an ideal sharing drink if you want something clean but not water. I rate: 3/5 🌟
🍵 Thai Iced Milk Tea - 120B Pretty standard. Nothing to rave about. I rate: 3/5 🌟
To sum up, felt the dining experience was pretty alright, but the price point for certain dishes was really not it. I saw most of the patrons trying the little steamboat pot with soup and mama noodles, which is what I would like to try next time. Service is good by staff and...
Read moreI would have given 3 stars instead of 2 if this wasn’t a Michelin guide restaurant. Michelin guide really makes one set certain level of expectations. And of course, I review this based on the food taste, quality, price point & execution.
Firstly, the appetiser set is too mild in flavour. It makes me question whether this is really Thai food. Not impressed especially for the price point.
Clear Tom Yum soup only have 2 ingredients. Mushrooms and prawn. And it taste way too sour and it doesn’t have that balance taste. I do think any street food vendor can make better tom yum.
Moo Cha Muang - braised pork with Cha Muang leaves dish which is Michelin recommended dish. But we feel rather disappointed with the lack of favour and umami in this dish. We feel this is rather bland and under seasoned. Not sure if this is toned down to meet general tourist / expat’s tastebuds. But well…
Sen Chan Pad Pu - grandma’s special stir fried rice noodles. This taste rather ordinary. We don’t know what so special about it.
We ordered Thai milk tea panna cota to end our dinner. Luckily the dessert save the night.
I asked for a cup of warm water since the waitress asked if we want some water when she sat us down, and I get charged 40 baht. I wasn’t told this will be charged as “mineral water”. The waitress should have told us. This is one very unhappy thing about the entire dining experience.
Ambience of the restaurant was okay. But it is rather obvious that this place is for the tourists and expats. All dishes taste are toned down.
For the price we pay, I think this meal...
Read moreI live literally around the corner from this place and I love this place, but I think they change their menu recently!
One of my favourite appetizers are the fried lotus bites with the citrusy sauce !
The mushroom soup is really really tasty and one of the soups I used to have a think it’s in this picture is the smoked fish soup which was to die for it was so good I don’t think they have it on the menu anymore but there are other locations might, but I typically have only gone to this one, which is the Sathon 10 branch!!
I also had the prawns in this creamy sauce with the sauce is good price for some reason it wasn’t as tasty as I hoped it would be. It’s the second picture next to the eggs.! Also, the crab fried omelet was not again what I had hoped to be. It was more eggs than crab, and was quite pricey for the metal crab that you got with it.
Definitely try out this place it’s different flavours not a typical normal certain type of that you would expect because it is from the ISSAN province of Thailand!
Overall though, I really enjoy coming to this place, I like the way the restaurant is set up and it’s constantly packed and I’d love the Issan food here 🥰🥰🥰
