This place came highly recommended by my brother, who used to work in Bangkok. So, we went with high expectations. It was quite confusing and hard to find the place as we were looking out for “The Local Canteen”. It is located at the Trinity Hotel and it’s Lon Lon x The Local Canteen. A small, quaint location with a lot of characters. When my friend and I arrived, it was very packed (made reservations at 9pm but was late because of the traffic and couldn’t find the place). So, it is advisable to call for a reservation. Their staff speaks good English and it’s also because there are a lot of foreign customers too. Now, about the food. It is quite authentic with a unique twist. We had the prawn green curry with roti (it’s like the Singapore prata/Malaysia roti canai), pork egg, morning glory and the duck soup. The highlight dish was the duck soup. Just look at the amount of chili! It’s spicy and tangy sour, the perfect combination with a succulent duck drumstick, hard-boiled egg and tofu. Ohhh it’s delicious. Just avoid the chili! Unfortunately the egg was the least favourite because it was missing the pork and not as fluffy. Overall, our meal is satisfying! We heard “The Local Canteen” is planning to have their own place. Here’s wishing them...
Read moreSummary: A fantastic little restaurant just off the BTS. The flavors are quite authentic, but the menu, staff, and ambiance and very foreigner-friendly. A great spot for everyone. Prices are also extremely reasonable, all things considered. Finally, the craft beer selection is actually pretty amazing, so what more could you possibly want?
Quality: Everything I've had here is great. The dishes are from all over Thailand, so it's a good survey for someone new to the cuisine. That said, the quality is pretty on point, so there's something for everyone. The general level of spiciness is not that high, which may be a benefit or a downside, depending on your preferences.
Value: This place is fantastic value. The prices are really very reasonable, given it's a nice, clean restaurant that uses quality ingredients. Easily one of the best value-for-money restaurants in the city.
Service/Ambiance: The service here is great. The wait staff are friendly and speak English. The restaurant is clean and...
Read moreThis tiny narrow restaurant was a saviour for us when we just arrived to Bangkok. The atmosphere is totally like in an European hipster restaurant, the waiters are nice always attentive and they speak a good English. The food and drinks they are offering are very nice and high quality. Our coconut water came in a bottle and was ice cold. The blended coconut shake was not overly sweet like at other places. Food was also really nice. We ordered two set menus the one with the smoked duck and one with the slowly cooked chicken massaman curry. I was amazed by the quality of the vegetables it wasn’t overcooked it was crunchy and fresh yet still warm and cooked. Very nice seasoning. I would say this restaurant is a European Image result for haute cuisine style restaurant only that the food is Thai and for a reasonable price. Absolutely go for it if you want to taste something special. For your information it is not possible to pay with card, but there is an ATM about one minute walk from...
