THE COFFEE CLUB - Holiday Inn Express Sathorn — Restaurant in Si Lom Subdistrict

I went to this branch that had a promotion for "buy 1 get 1" drinks. I opened the Coffee Club app, and handed my phone w/ the promotion QR code for the waitress to scan. About 5 minutes later, she returned with my phone. Here's what I discovered somebody did in that time:

1. opened a web browser
2. entered "google" in the search bar
3. clicked on the link for google that they googled
4. searched for this Coffee Club branch name on google
5. clicked on the "reviews" tab of their own listing
6. signed me out of my Google account
7. Returned to their app

The result of this is when I opened the browser, there, in a large font, was a prompt reading "sign in to leave a review" on this very listing.

This is, IMO, a big violation of my trust and privacy. I didn't grant anybody permission to start digging around my phone, I only expected them to scan the QR code I had opened. Who knows, if they decided to open a banking app, for example. This crosses a line if their staff is trained that it is acceptable to enter other apps upon getting physical access to customer devices.

They try a lot of up-selling in their cafes and constantly push their loyalty program, which is a tiny bit irritating but easy to ignore. To sign into the wifi, they demand access to one of your email or social media accounts; after this experience, I'm more aware of how much they are tracking you, the customer. I'll probably avoid their wifi from now on.

The food, drinks, and atmosphere are all high quality, which is why I've returned and joined their loyalty program. Unfortunately, today's experience...

The worst service ever. Only one person on the floor, poor communication, zero customer service, manager doesn’t care, as it’s seen from photos only 4 tables. One table next to us send to food back to kitchen due to its not fresh

We ordered coffee, Phad Thai and smashed avocado. Pad Thai arrived no fork, knife. We asked for nan pla sauce never arrived

Smashed avocado after 35 min waiter came and said sorry I forgot to order your dish.

We left without eating, we did not even touch the pad Thai. They made us pay full, not even sorry. Manager didn’t bother herself, she didn’t care at all. There is no question to staff, biggest question is chain of coffee club to senior management. Short staff, poor English speaking staff and they don’t know what they are doing ! It’s sunday and high chance of breakfast rush.

By the way we speak Thai and ordered everything in Thai

An amazing breakfast/ brunch place with good service, interesting menu and good variety.

We had a pot of tea and a iced mocha - both were good.

The pumpkin soup was rich, creamy and very flavorful - the dollop of cream on top was a great addition. It is served with garlic bread slices that were actually very delicious on it’s own!

The grilled chicken with kale salad was my favourite! Delicious and fresh kale, tossed with quinoa and raisins. The chicken is juicy and the avocado adds a little richness to the dish. Healthy and delicious!

The breakfast croissant is filled with smoked salmon, smashed avocados and veges. Flaky croissant with a heap of stuffings! What’s not to love?
