They had a big table of 18 upstairs. So the servers were not able to seat us, provide menus, or take our orders in a normal fashion. It's strange how Choongman operates in Thailand, they only sell the wing drummette, the wing flat and tips, and boneless chicken thighs. The pictures on the menu do not represent the food you will get. Faced with the option of wings or drummettes, I mistakenly chose the drummettes thinking that they would be chicken drumsticks. I was sorely disappointed when they came out, it was obvious they were wings. So really you're dealing with a fried chicken shop that only sells wings and boneless thighs.
Aside from that, the chicken was very tasty. We enjoyed it. Our fries were cold and it was obvious they had been sitting around for a while. Beer and soju came out quite late and though their menu shows Hallasan soju, that was never presented as an option. I asked for original soju and was given fresh soju.
Unlike Korea where almost all chicken would be fresh cut, this is a shop selling not as fresh chicken parts. They are tasty, but it's really an insult to the company that they don't do fresh cut chicken and sell all parts of the chicken. It really doesn't make sense. There are no breasts, no drumsticks which is hugely disappointing. If they sold those in addition to what they sell now it would be a big improvement. The...
Read moreI generously gave 2 stars, but this experience was far from satisfying. The food was incredibly slow—we waited an excessive amount of time to be served. The drink I ordered, "Grape from the Tree" for 89 THB, was a huge disappointment; it was just grape syrup mixed with water. Totally overpriced!
The noodles arrived lukewarm despite taking 20 minutes to prepare. To top it off, they prioritized serving a blogger over our table, even though we ordered first.
The staff seemed unhappy to be there, and one lady—who appeared to be the owner—looked furious, creating a very unpleasant atmosphere.
When I tried to use a credit card promotion, it took them 15 minutes to inform me that they weren’t participating. On top of that, they tried to charge an additional 3% fee for using a credit card, even though the sign outside said they accept all kinds of credit cards.
Overall, the food was average, the service was lazy, and the vibe was terrible. We won't be returning. It was definitely a mistake to...
Read moreChoongman Chicken Silom used to be my go-to spot for Korean fried chicken whenever I was in town, but this time it feels like it has lost its magic. I wish they offered smaller portions so you could try different flavors without committing to one large dish. I went with a recommended flavor, but unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy it—it felt pretty underwhelming.
The service was nothing special—just a straightforward eat, pay, and go experience. I remember there used to be a cheerful staff member who would chat with us and create such a warm, friendly vibe, but that energy seems to be gone now. Overall, it’s not the same experience I...
