Gold Curry — Restaurant in Suriyawong Subdistrict

The restaurant is located in a red light district. If you are here just to eat curry for dinner, better go to other branches of Gold Curry.

Usually I enjoy Gold Curry from other branches a lot. But over here I found that they give very small portion of curry. Plus, the flour used to coat the tonkatsu are too hard. My throat felt really irritated afterwards. (Hours have passed and I still feel irritated. Maybe it's due to the seasonings in the curry as well. This has never happened to me when I eat Japanese curry elsewhere.)

Staffs not being attentive is typical and I felt that it was alright for this restaurant which is a bit like self service.

One of the best curry you could possibly find in Bangkok. The curry itself is condensed, thick, and mixed with mayonnaise. I have only ordered fried minced beef with omelette and fried pork Mille-Fuille with omelette - they were superb!! . . . On the wall of the restaurant are the pictures of the challengers who dare taking the restaurant’s challenges by trying to finish extremely large portion of curry rice (2-10 kg if I remember correctly) by the specified time. If you can do it then it’s free and you will also get rewarded. I don’t dare trying... Normally size S is enough for me already.

Thaniya branch’s menu is less then the one I visited on the rest area of the express way but still lots of choices to choose.

I go there with my colleagues and order curry with 2 kilograms to eat for 4 peoples, it delicious and a lots of rice in the dish but not enough for pork or chicken in the meal so I need to order more for just only pork and other things to eat with rice in the first meal, it very delicious and not too oily, the restaurant have the promotion for the one who can eat all 2 kilograms dish for 15 minutes you can eat for free and have more for 5 and other things as well, it very challenging for the one who love to eat curry. About the price os not expensive if compare with taste and the quality of the meal, I give them 5 because of the waitress is good...
