I like Malaysian food and they make decent dishes here. However, my recent visit left me very disappointed. I ordered Nasi Lemak and a spicy and sour stir-fried potato strings. Despite having only three tables with guests at the time of my arrival. My order took almost half an hour. When prompted I was given an answer that the restaurant was still understaffed at the time. With this price point I would expect certain level of consistency in service. If it’s an emergency where the place really couldn’t find staff, they could also inform the guests of the extra time needed so that the guests could manage the time and decide whether to eat there or not.
My most disappointed thing for this visit was the stir-fried potato strings I ordered which is supposed to be a very quick dish to make. After all the wait I was presented with a thick cut sad-soggy-fries looking thing. You can see in the picture that not only the potatoes are not cut thinly like in the picture on the menu, or regularly served elsewhere, the greens are also not seen in the served dish.
I inquired the waitress and she said that this is how they serve it here and the picture can look different. I scrolled down the review here on Google and found the same dish posted 2 years ago and that one looks much more faithful to the picture on the menu, so I guess the new chef really doesn’t know how to make it properly.
Sure you can save the restaurant legally but as a faithful customer this is an insult. I appreciated that the waitress then offered to take back the dish without charge, which I did. I’m sure the taste wouldn’t be so bad, but still, at a decent restaurant, as a consumer, I would a...

The Bads - price quite high for this. thai alternative "ก๋วยจั๋บเกาเหลา" is 1/6 the price. not the same and in my opinion not as good but this is expensive.
The Ugly - not many customers, quite empty because, in my opinion: price a bit high this location is full of younger univeristy students age range. this food is considered 'old people's food'. location is good but not the right one for this food.
The Prospect - the place is quite empty and sad even at peak time. while i really enjoy the food, i think it won't last long in this location. i think it is quite difficult for this type of food Bak Kut Teh to succeed in bangkok in general at this price range. there might be specific niches and location for it to succeed. but it requires the right location for the right demographics:
typically chinese descendant customers typically older 40+ rich and...
Read moreThe Bak Kut Teh was pretty good. Maybe the best I have had in Bangkok. The rib bone soup was clean but maybe lacked the depth of flavor you would find in Malaysia. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself is a let down because it is too exposed to the mall traffic. People walking in the mall, quite literally, are within an arms length of where you are eating. The staff was a bit overwhelmed by a large lunch party and paid little attention to other diners in...
