It was just… bad. After three weeks holidaying, we were coming to the conclusion that it was difficult to find a truly bad dining experience in Thailand, but Sail to the Mood delivered. The menu is noisy and confusing, leaving you in some doubt as to how you are supposed to order, which, it turns out, is in the style of a tapas bar. The beer choice is poor and the price: extortionate (thought the staff will point to an inconvenient 3-for-2 offer on the Chang). The food came out speedily enough, but massively underwhelmed. The chicken wings in particular were much smaller than expected. The price of the food was again higher than any other restaurant we had eaten in and we left hungry and feeling ripped off. The only slight saving grace is the location on the riverfront, but even this is sadly marred by the house band that is about as good as...
Read moreSail to the moon is right on the riverfront. It’s menu at first glance appears standard Thai but they have some theatrical dishes which are great. We had the run off beef which you cook in your own soup at the table. There were prawns which were flambéd at the table. I had a tasty vegetarian option too. There’s also a craft brewery ‘chit hot beer’ which is very good. You can try the beers to see what you like. They lychee cider was delicious. The portions are an ok size just make sure you order rice as well - it doesn’t come with the main dish. The staff are kind and try very much to speak good English. We had a good meal here in Asiatique which I heard was over priced and full of hidden charges. That wasn’t the case at Sail...

There were seven staff members, and five of them were on their phones, the other two were talking to each other. We had to ask them to serve us.
The presentation of the food was wonderful, but the flavor was lackluster. Earlier in the week, we had eaten at Kang Eng in Phuket. We had drinks, huge portions, wonderful wait staff, all on the ocean front. And I paid more for this lackluster meal than I did for the wonderful meal I had in Phuket.
I am usually a HUGE tipper, but this is the only time in my life that I could not, in good conscience,...
