Was in Bangkok recently catching up with a dear friend who’s based in Thailand. We initially met at Khao San Road, but it was a little too chaotic to properly catch up (we’ve grown up), so we looked up nearby spots with a more laid-back vibe and stumbled upon Murmur. Tucked just a short stroll away from the Khao San madness, this gem of a bar had everything we were looking for: chilled-out music, quality drinks, good company.
At 11pm on a Saturday night it was still open, even as we left at 1-ish. The drinks menu had playful Thai-inspired twists. Had to order the ‘Sukhumvit Metropolis Madness’, especially after being stuck in traffic for hours during the earthquake aftermath the previous day. We sat at the bar and had a good chat with other patrons and the bar’s founder Aman. He’s a really cool guy with a fascinating backstory on how Murmur came to be.
All in all, Murmur was one of those unexpected highlights of the trip. Definitely a place worth veering off the main Khao San drag for. No tuk tuk needed, just a short walk. Go say hi to Aman and enjoy the vibe. You won’t regret it....
Read moretucked away just a stone’s throw from the overstimulating khao san street, murmur is possibly one of the best bars i’ve ever been to! affordable for the quality of drinks that they do.
amazing, unique and super delicious drinks — we had the tom kha, sparkling silom and ari twilight, all of which were so great! murmur does such an innovative, unique twist on traditional cocktails, and they even have a whole section of drinks that they innovated themselves in their lab. i really prefer such innovative smaller ‘boutique’ places than those more expensive ones that hike their prices and don’t do their drinks with as much intention. you can tell how much the owners of murmur love their craft! so honoured and happy to be able to experience such a great space!!
the atmosphere of the place was superb as well! and the owner was so lovely, offering recommendations and making sure we felt comfortable. truly not a place to miss...
Read moreFound this absolute gem whilst walking around looking for something to eat so we popped in and we weren't disappointed. The owner was a lovely person who explained the drinks menu to us. This service was first class and he made us both feel welcomed and relaxed. We ordered a pint of singha beer and a cocktail. Both were excellent and the pint was perfect. Something that can be difficult to find on draught. We both enjoyed a few more drinks and left for something to eat. I cannot recommend it enough. From the outside decor and the relaxed feeling inside. I loved everything about this amazing bar. This was one of my favourite places to visit for a drink on my travels. Thank you very much for a great evening and we will return on every visit in future. All the very best for the future...
