Food was great. Smoothie was good as well. The service on the other hand was terrible. I’m not sure if the white man who was there was the owner or a worker, but he definitely has a problem with people of color, namely Black people. While the other servers (who were great btw) were busy, he refused to serve our table. He wouldn’t even make eye contact. Walked past us twice while we clearly had our hands raised, plates stacked/table cleaned and were looking to get his attention to get the check. The place is not that big, and at his first pass, it was only us two and one other table of 4. It’s impossible not to notice us. When he did come back by the second time, it was to ask the other table of 4 if they needed anything and then to assist someone else who had just walked up. He did not even acknowledge us. Mind you, our table was still in the same state when he first walked by us and we were still waiting for the check. When he tried to walk past a third time (10 mins or so later from the first time), I called out for his attention. He nonchalantly picked up our dirty plates and called another worker over to attend to us and decided to go sit down to start chatting with the person who has recently sat down. He had already taken his order, he literally talking bout random things while we had to wait for the other worker to finish what they were doing in the back and come out to help us. It just left a bad taste in our mouth given how welcoming the people of Thailand had been up to that point. He had an accent (British or Australian) so he clearly isn’t Thai by birth (so we don’t hold this against Thailand) but I would avoid this restaurant as the owner (?) clearly lets his prejudices hinder his ability to serve all customers. Take your money elsewhere (only got 2 stars bc the food and the native Thai servers...
Read moreIn this neighborhood this is the best restaurant we tried. We'd actually given up prior to this and were eating far away. Try Me Thai will blow you away.
Price: Extremely reasonable prices. Though inflation has come to Thailand, the prices here are what get should be. They aren't gouging anyone here.
Food: Everything, including the rice seems to be prepared professionally and with the utmost care. I feel like the chef here worked for someone else, learned everything she could, and then left to stay her own place. Everything was amazing.
Service: All the ladies who work here seem to love it. They all have an easy smile that comes to their face as soon as you make eye contact. Even when they aren't looking at you, you can tell they like this place. That alone makes this place work even better. They truly seem to care if you are enjoying the food.
Atmosphere: Simple but clean. Don't be turned away if the place looks full. They have extra tables they can set up outside. Just ask.
You may have had Mango Sticky Rice before... but you need to try the Fried Mango Sticky Rice that's unique to this restaurant....
Read moreIn all actuality I personally wouldn’t return to this establishment. I enjoyed the one meal I had there, staff was friendly and I enjoyed sitting outside, but the food was nothing to report home about. I particularly enjoyed their spring rolls and chicken satay, as the latter was paired with a heavenly satay sauce that was to die for but that note I don’t feel that is was any better then the other various restaurants and food stands I indulged in during my stay. I ordered the Pad Thai Kai and I would have to describe it as underwhelming, after visiting numerous countries with my father who frequents Asia for business, I can confidently say I’ve had better. The sauce was the main negative to this dish as the noodles and shrimp were cooked lovely. A friend I was with ordered clear soup and that dish was really not good, from the cook of the vegetables to the broth it’s self I don’t believe she did ever finish it. Looking past these complaints it is a cute place if your looking for a simple easy dinner that will get the job done opposed to a flavour symphony within your mouth, this is the...
