DON’T GO. THEY SCAM TOURISTS! I ordered a chicken burger (12.500 TND). I paid with a 20 TND bill. They gave me 3 TND as change. I told them it was wrong, then they gave me 2 TND more. They told me I ordered a cheeseburger, I told them it was a chicken burger and I had a picture. Then they gave me 5,50TND in a very bad way. The boss there told me to go and I don’t have to make a disturb there. I had to seek the boss to give me the right change, they didn’t want to see my picture of the hamburger nor even said sorry. The cashier finally gave me 1 TND more and I asked her: this is how you treat tourist? She replied sarcastically: welcome to Tunisia. Watch for your change whenever you go in Tunisia. Some people will try to scam you with the change.

Being desperate searching for a decent restaurant, I tried out Mahdaoui, primarily because it is located on the main avenue, appeared somewhat clean, and had a few people eating there. That was a mistake. Prices here are higher than at comparable restaurants, and food quality is poor. I ordered the Escalope. The meat portion was small, and most of my plate was covered in a lukewarm, not very fresh salad. The appetizer (complementary) consisted of something looking like hummus (but tasting off) and tomato sauce. Service was so so, I had to ask multiple times just to get cutlery. There was also a constant supply of street sellers walking through the restaurant and a stray cat that almost jumped on my table.

Déplorable ! Nous avons été placés au milieu de toutes les tables car il n’y avait plus d’autres tables libres. Puis nous nous sommes nous même replacés à une table plus décente quand certains clients sont partis. Ma mère a commandé une citronnade qui a mis sans aucune blague au moins 40 minutes à 1h pour arriver. Nous avons été servis les autres boissons assez vite. Mais bizarrement même en demandant 4 fois cette citronnade… Rien. Les serveurs s’appellent entre eux bêtement pour demander à l’autre de faire la citronnade. Le service est un spectacle de sourd. La citronnade n’était même pas bonne, trop concentrée en citron soit très amer. Le coca cola de 24CL à 4 dinars n’était pas frais. Les plats ont eux aussi pris 1h ou plus à arriver. Nous avions demandé des sauces précises pour nos plats (tacos et makloub). Il n’y avait aucune sauce dans aucun d’entre eux. Et une sauce à l’ail sur les frites que personne n’avait demandé. Les serviettes pour se nettoyer étaient dans l’assiette sous la sauce, inutilisables. Le makloub (pain à pizza à la place du pain à tacos) a été servi après les 3 autres plats lui aussi à croire qu’ils essayaient de faire une tournée de pizza. Plusieurs personnes qui sont arrivés après nous ont été servi avant! Ridicule. À la fin pour demander l’addition nous nous sommes dit que la citronnade tant attendu avait été offerte mais non figurez vous qu’en demandant au serveur de faire un geste pour ses 1h d’attente, il prit une mine choquée. C’était absurde à voir. Nous avons demandés des toilettes, ils nous ont indiqué une autre enseigne et en plus elles étaient fermées. La nourriture était moyenne. La bouteille d’eau de 1L est facturée à 4 dinars et la bouteille d’eau de 0,5L à 1,500 dinars : un piège pour pigeon et évidemment le serveur ne sert pas deux bouteilles d’eau à 0,5L pour 3 dinars. Le tout nous a coûté 93 dinars (citronnade et eau facturés en plus) un désastre !! N’y allez pas.

El mehdewi restaurant the worst experience we had in Tunis , the server was so rude and disrespectful , and even yelled on the old lady next to us when she asked him kindly if her order was ready , then he brought us the wrong order when we told him , he was like ( pfff ) and said that it's my fault because i wasn't sure what i wanted..) my mother told him she's allergic to tuna so avoid any thing with it , guess what , he brought her pizza Neptune and said it's her who ordered it , when she complained about it , he simply said ( take the tuna off you will have a margherita) how rude is that ??? .. to be honest the boss scolded him many times, and she even came to see what we need , but he kept on his rude behavior .. if he keeps working there , the restaurant will go down .. ) .. ( the server had black mustach and thin beard , tan skin ,...
