Mahdaoui Food — Restaurant in Tunis

El mehdewi restaurant the worst experience we had in Tunis , the server was so rude and disrespectful , and even yelled on the old lady next to us when she asked him kindly if her order was ready , then he brought us the wrong order when we told him , he was like ( pfff ) and said that it's my fault because i wasn't sure what i wanted..) my mother told him she's allergic to tuna so avoid any thing with it , guess what , he brought her pizza Neptune and said it's her who ordered it , when she complained about it , he simply said ( take the tuna off you will have a margherita) how rude is that ??? .. to be honest the boss scolded him many times, and she even came to see what we need , but he kept on his rude behavior .. if he keeps working there , the restaurant will go down .. ) .. ( the server had black mustach and thin beard , tan skin ,...

DON’T GO. THEY SCAM TOURISTS!

I ordered a chicken burger (12.500 TND). I paid with a 20 TND bill. They gave me 3 TND as change. I told them it was wrong, then they gave me 2 TND more. They told me I ordered a cheeseburger, I told them it was a chicken burger and I had a picture. Then they gave me 5,50TND in a very bad way. The boss there told me to go and I don’t have to make a disturb there. I had to seek the boss to give me the right change, they didn’t want to see my picture of the hamburger nor even said sorry. The cashier finally gave me 1 TND more and I asked her: this is how you treat tourist? She replied sarcastically: welcome to Tunisia.

Watch for your change whenever you go in Tunisia. Some people will try to scam you...

Being desperate searching for a decent restaurant, I tried out Mahdaoui, primarily because it is located on the main avenue, appeared somewhat clean, and had a few people eating there. That was a mistake. Prices here are higher than at comparable restaurants, and food quality is poor. I ordered the Escalope. The meat portion was small, and most of my plate was covered in a lukewarm, not very fresh salad. The appetizer (complementary) consisted of something looking like hummus (but tasting off) and tomato sauce. Service was so so, I had to ask multiple times just to get cutlery. There was also a constant supply of street sellers walking through the restaurant and a stray cat that almost jumped...
