Katibim Cafe Hookah — Restaurant in Üsküdar

Worst possible customer service. Not worth the money and time to have a fine dining experience. I will share my experience: my husband and I went to the rooftop informing their staff and nobody objected anything. When we went to the rooftop nobody was in the waiting area. we waited for a table to get emptied and just when we were about to sit on our table some kid ran towards us to get our table and it was weird because we were already at the table. After someone cleaned our table some waitress (idk her name but she was wearing scarf and was acting as everyone‘s boss) came to us and said that our table is specially reserved and we can not sit there. She made us change our table and then brought the same family with kids who were trying to jump and get our table. When I objected that we had come first, and why she made us change our table lying that it’s reserved, then she. Hanged her statement that whoever comes first and requests the table first then will get the table! Explaining that we were first and then we should get the table she just created extra dramatic scene. When the table next to us tried to help us, then she just rudely said she will give the next table to us. After getting another table, nobody came to take our order for a very long time and this lady made sure other waiters take the orders of other tables who came after us! Maybe it’s a very good restaurant and rich owner who may not need my review but food was just ordinary and the only thing the management can do to make it up for not so qualitative food is to hire staff with some manners and good attitude. This was the most horrible experience in whole turkey. Not at all worth the money. Serious anger and attitude issues for the staff. We spent about 1400tl for just one burger and a pizza which was just and ordinary taste and extremely horrible experience. A stylish huge place with a splendid interior decoration, accompanied with sea views and the most popular places of Istanbul: the first bridge, the bosphorus, the Princess Tower, and many more. The place has a truely invigorating atmosphere. Most of the terrases are nicely organized and arranged.

Whether you are there for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the menu is rich with many choices of appetizers, drinks and desserts. For nergile's fans, excellent mixes are waiting you to try. I strongly recommend that place.

You may need to take into account that it's mostly crowded (a lot of tourists prefer the place as well), so you'd better make a reservation beforehand if you hate waiting for an available table. Also the service sometimes becomes bad when it's crowded. However, the staff is friendly whatsoever.

Last, prices are high but not for such location and quality.

Highly recommend Katibim!

Before my review of their food and location, I would like to thank the staff at Katibim. We had dinner there, and my son forgot about his backpack. We found out about it after 11 pm that night after we returned to our hotel at the European side of Istanbul, and we had a noon flight the next day. With no hope of recovering the backpack, I still wanted to try my luck, and so I returned to the restaurant at 7:50am the following day. To my surprise, they found the backpack and returned it to me! Everything was still inside, including my son's wallet, which still had money untouched! I was so happy and I wanted to give tips to the staff as a small token of my appreciation. They refused to take my money. The two morning staff who helped me spoke no English. They were really nice!

Regarding the Turkish food we had at dinner, it was delicious! The restaurant also had Western food too. The location is great, just a three minutes easy walk from either the subway station or the ferry terminal. Seats by windows have a great view of the Bosphorus strait towards the European side...
