Once there were two hungry foragers, aka vegans. They stopped by a nice spot they had seen a couple times during their prior days stomping the streets of Istanbul. They leapt at the opportunity to have a vegan feast based on the reviews and delightful menu at the welcoming doorway. Alas, they were doomed to be full, but forever (at least for 6-12 hours) dissatisfied and unsustained. The staff shrugged at them as they passed through the pearly gates to a table with an unusually annoying buzzing sound, probably to deter the crazy cats and other feral sorts away. Upon ordering a beige selection of falafel with delicious sounding yoghurt and pesto vegan sauciness, tofu cheesy goodness in what some might call a handheld bread vessel - bread tunnels, and finally the healthy option of more falafel and mother nature's rubies - pom-de-granites and green leaves not from the forest floor. This was the beginning of the end, however, as an amazingly underwhelming meal was about to be grazed upon. There was no holy grail pesto yoghurt which did in fact hurt. Instead of tofu cheesy goodness, tofu cubeness came in a wrap with about as much taste as Katie Hopkins offering parenting advice to an orphanage and what's this? could it be? There were no pearls of pom to be feasted upon. The two weary travellers begged at the wench's feet for something to whet their whistles. Yet, all that arrived was lord heinz's and sir knorr's reinforcements to saturate their flavourless feed. This experience drove the two veganites to drown themselves and their woes in liquor, and they later died in a tragic baklava duel to the death with local...
Read moreService is slow but they're certainly understaffed and not properly trained. Only one lady was doing everything. The other lad was outside taking a coffee break for half of the time I was there.
I went to the cash desk to make my order and the lad didn't even look at me. The lady was super kind and took my order. She didn't take long to have my coffee ready. It's sad to see that she's basically working alone and doing everything herself.
I used to be a waitress and I still work in the hospitality business and I understand the struggle. This is why I'm giving this place 5 stars. The food and the coffee were delicious!!!!!
The cafe is downstairs from a hotel and the hotel guests have a buffet breakfast prepared. I wish they offered that option to walk-in customers :)
Otherwise the ambient is amazing and super cozy. I came here because Mavra (next door) was closed and I needed food urgently. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and portions. Very...
Read moreIn an instant this place turned for us from top to flop. We walked past it several times and every time it looked great. Therefore, one evening we decided to visit it and have a dinner. They offer multiple vegan options, which was great. What we didn’t expect, however, was that the cafe itself is a passage to the reception of a hotel. Right in the middle of our dinner, six people showed up after they’ve been to a shopping spree, left they shopping bags on the table, brought their suitcases that they previously left at the reception, and started repacking their stuff loudly talking at the same time. We, suddenly, found ourself not in a chilled atmosphere but in the middle of a...
