First and foremost id like to start off by saying I gave the place 1 star because of one polite employee I forgot her name. Other than that I wanted to mention we have been here twice and ordered their tea and tres leche as well as kunafa once. The kunafa was dry but I gave it one stars. The tres leches was good. The reason why I am giving it 1 star is because of one rude and arrogant employee. I don’t know his name but he has black hair and he is a skinny individual. BE AWARE. He is absolutely rude and for the third time me and my friend decided to have tea at their place because every time we go to taksim we like to have to tea with them - he refused to serve us. He was mad that we never came and actually dined but it don’t think it’s right to refuse service to someone simply because they choose to have tea and dessert instead of to dine. He was absolutely rude and I normally don’t like to write reviews but I made sure this goes on Google. So any tourists visiting to keep that in mind. The staff is very rude except for one woman who was absolutely nice. Unfortunately this time she wasn’t there to serve us. I wanted to mention that when we asked for a table for two and asked for tea he loudly responded NO TEA NO COFFEE. There were other customers behind us who wanted to probably have dessert and tea or coffee I assume and as soon as they heard him they left as well. I was so shocked because of his rude response and from how shook I was I took a picture of the restaurant so I’m sure to find it on Google. Please stay away if you wana have a good time and relax. There are many other coffee/restaurants in Istanbul that provided warm and friendly services and this is...
Read moreOn a cold, chilly evening, we had the pleasure of dining at Istiklal Kebap Restaurant, seated outside with a gas heater keeping us cozy. The ambiance was charming, blending the warmth of Turkish hospitality with the freshness of the crisp winter air.
We started our meal with Ezogelin Çorbası (Red Lentil Soup). While it was hearty and flavorful, there was a slightly bitter undertone that could have been refined. Alongside, we enjoyed the Roka Salatası (Garden Rocket Salad), which was fresh and vibrant.
For the mains, we ordered the Karışık Izgara (Mixed Kebab), which was truly excellent—a highlight of the evening with perfectly cooked, tender meats bursting with flavor. The Lamb Chops with Fries were another standout dish; the chops were tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, though the fries were rather ordinary.
To conclude our meal, the freshly made Baklava was exceptional, hitting the perfect balance of sweetness and texture. This was complemented by the restaurant’s gesture of serving Turkish Tea and Turkish Coffee on the house—a delightful and authentic touch.
The service was impeccable, with the host offering excellent recommendations and ensuring our evening was comfortable and memorable.
Overall, the combination of a cozy outdoor setup, delectable food, and warm hospitality made for an excellent dining experience. Istiklal Kebap Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic...
Read moreSCAM! Read this before going here. We went there. We asked and they accepted card. At the payment time, we wanted to pay with card but they wouldn’t accept it. They even wanted us to go to the bank to retrieve cash. We started arguing and they told us they had a “card problem”. We went straight to the cashier and when they saw I was writing a bad review here, the card machine suddenly started working and they tried giving me a discount so I would rate 5 stars. They are liars, they didn’t want to pay the card comission is my best guess. But to lie to someone directly is too much. They offer kebab, and normal turkey food I saw the other comments of one stars. They are fake, bots with only this review and...
