⭐️ If I could give zero stars, I would. RUN.
I’ve had bad meals before — cold pasta, rude service, overpriced drinks — but nothing could’ve prepared me for the absolute nightmare that was this so-called “restaurant.” Our dinner here on Saturday wasn’t just disappointing — it was traumatizing. And no, I’m not exaggerating.
Let me break it down:
We were a group of six people. We ordered a modest meal — no extravagance, just seafood. You’d think with the sea five steps away, the fish would be fresh, right? WRONG. Everything we were served was rotten, bland, oily, and clearly not fresh. The smell alone should have been a warning sign, but we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake.
Then came the bill: 900 euros. Yes, you read that right. Nine. Hundred. Euros. For six people. For bad, borderline inedible food. We were stunned. We asked to speak to the owner, hoping it was some kind of mistake. Instead, we were mocked, dismissed, and then THREATENED. I am not kidding. On the night I took away all the food as we wanted to go fishing with it, we rented a boat for our trip. When I gaved the fishes to the staff they throw it away and said it wasn’t fresh even for the fishes!!!!! We then moved port and when we came back to town two days after we tried to talk to the owner to find a compromise as we were extremely unhappy. The owner literally tried to start a fight, and one of the waiters grabbed objects to hit us with. We feared for our safety. It was completely unhinged behavior.
But wait — it gets worse. We realized the menu had different prices depending on whether you were a tourist. Locals were paying a fraction of what we were charged. It was clear: we were being scammed. Every single turkish person we talked to said we were scammed and I know the weight of the fishes was a lie as they weren’t big. The presentation wasn’t bad that’s why I didn’t suspect that it wasn’t fresh but everything had a weird after taste.
I have traveled all over the world and eaten in everything from street stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants, and never in my life have I encountered a place so dishonest, aggressive, and shamefully corrupt. What was supposed to be our first relaxing night in Bodrum turned into a traumatic, humiliating disaster.
This place is not a restaurant. It is a tourist trap, a scam operation, and a dangerous one at that. If you’re thinking of coming here, don’t. Just don’t.
I will never recommend this place to anyone. Not even as a joke. It left us disgusted, shaken, and furious. And it left the worst possible impression of Bodrum on us — on night one of our trip.
🚫 Stay away. Stay FAR away. This place should...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience at Deniz Restaurant. The service was poor and the food was even worse. We ordered a dorade to share for three people, and the waiter assured us it would be enough and would come with several complementary sides like rice, salad, and vegetables. However, from the start, the waiter acted strange and tried to pressure us into ordering more. The atmosphere felt unpleasant and uncomfortable.
The real issue came with the food: the dorade was served completely raw inside – not just undercooked, but actually raw. We had already cut it up and started plating it when we noticed. Instead of immediately offering a solution, we had to ask them to take it back and cook it properly. They never apologized, nor did they offer a replacement or show any concern.
When the fish came back, it was overcooked and dry, served with a tiny portion of frozen fries and a small bagged salad. For a place with such high ratings, this was incredibly disappointing.
The only positive was the view of the port and the sunset — but unfortunately, that couldn’t make up for the terrible service and bad food.
We were truly surprised at how poor the experience was given the Google reviews. Would not recommend this...
Read moreBeware of pricing scam. From reading other reviews in the last few weeks it seems this is a scam this restaurant likes to regularly play on tourists.
This is their trick: The fish does not have a price - it says “ask”. So when ordering the fish platter for 2 I asked for a price. The waiter said he would check with the kitchen - but then didn’t come back to us with an answer. So I asked again and he quickly said a price of 1,250 (bit didn’t make it clear whether it was per person or in total for 2 people). Other reviews also report this evasive behaviour when they asked for a price.
The bill comes and it says 3,000. Which made no sense at all after quoting 1.250. He then started finding individual prices for items eg salad and chips to justify his price - but at the very start he said it was all included in the fish platter for 2. After arguing for a while he reduced it.
Wish we had read the other reviews before going where they report this scam.
Additionally the fish...
