TERRIBLE!! If I could give zero stars I would. The reason we got attracted to this restaurant was their traditional atmosphere and “Turkish pancake” where a woman was making them fresh and we could see it walking in the street. We thought it would be a great experience...when we sat the table next to us was leaving and was telling the waitress that the food doesn’t match the picture or description and that it was bad. We got a little hesitant and thought about leaving but decided to judge for ourselves since everyone has a different taste and preference. They took our order and took a long time to bring the food. They brought the food at random times where 2 people had their food while the rest of us were waiting. Everyone’s food came and we were still waiting for the “Turkish pancake” we told the waitress three times to check and bring it. Then she came telling us the woman who makes it left and now they can’t do anything about it. She then went to the other side and started dancing to the music that was being played showing that she doesn’t care about the poor service she’s providing. There was live music being played as well which I found interesting at first but eventually I noticed it’s making everyone uncomfortable. They would come play their instrument and sing by each table until people gave money and as soon as they got some kind of money they would quickly stop playing the music and move on. I found this to be very cheap of the restaurant to do and made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Besides the fact they forgot about our order their food was tasteless and didn’t look very nice either. The staff were very rude and communicated poorly. I didn’t expect them to speak fluent English but at least know how to communicate politely with us.
I don’t recommend this restaurant at all. Don’t fall for the traditional atmosphere or the woman making the...
Read moreIt was our first trip to Istanbul and our first meal experience. As soon as we checked into our hotel in the evening we went out to explore the area and have a bite to eat. We came across this place and was attracted by the colourful decor and the Gozleme station by the window. We were greeted by a waitress all dressed up in traditional Turkish attair. We sat down and ordered our food. The menu was basic and the price label was unclear. We ordered one mezze tray and a mix grilled platter (for 2) one kunafa and two cups of Turkish tea. The mezze smelt off and when we told the waiter he didnt understand English so went and got another person who just looked at us like we are idiots and said " our food is fresh" and walked off. We didn't eat it! When we asked for the bill we were shocked. £98 for 4 items. when we tried to challenge it. They started getting aggressive and only responded in Turkish so it was difficult to communicate with them. We paid and left the joint feeling vulnerable. We spent the rest of our trip eating at our hotel which was much nicer...
Read moreWe saw this restaurant from the street and we thought it looked really charming so we came back for dinner. They took a lot of time to grab our order, they didn't have some items that we wanted (gözleme and rice pudding) and they insisted we get the bigger portion of desert saying that we'll like it (we didn't, it was sugary, semi burnt and accompanied by a neon pink sauce). The food was bland and generic with traditional sounding names. The chicken, for example, was very dry which was a hard feat to achieve considering it was drowning in some sauce. Some of the food comes with a flashy presentation which is definitely a tourist trap. We payed 350 TL for two people which is absolutely insane considering the prices in the area. They also have the nerve to add a 10% service fee on top of everything. By the time we had enough of our food we couldn't find a server to bring us the check because all of them were arguing with another customer. I wouldn't recommend this...
