I am sorry to give such a low rating to a pastry shop that I love very much, where I never fail to go, for a tea with a dessert or a baklava, every time I am in Istanbul. And for a little less than ten years this has happened often. But ordering a strawberry dessert and discovering that the strawberries were covered in mold made me indignant. A historic place, one of the most beloved in old Constantinople, that is slowly slipping into anonymity is absolutely unacceptable. I hope that my rating will first of all move those who manage one of the gastronomic riches of what for me is one of the most fascinating cities in the world. I also hope that many users want to challenge fate and believe my words (and the effort that I hope the director of the pastry shop will make to return to the old glories), going to taste one of the dozens and dozens of delicacies offered by the pastry shop, hopefully without mold. What a shame! Because kindness is one of their characteristics, but it is not enough to make the fortune of this historic place. Next time I will visit Istanbul, I will definitely go back to Osmanlizadeler, but it will be the last time if the freshness of the food leaves something to be desired. To my...
Read moreI've traveled across half the world, but this was by far the worst service I’ve encountered. A complete tourist trap, especially if you’re a woman. While most tables were being served by waiters in clean white shirts, I was attended by what seemed to be a helper, wearing a visibly stained apron, completely rude and disinterested. I ordered around 10 baklavas and a few other desserts. When I saw how carelessly he packed everything into a box, as if it were animal feed, I mentioned at the checkout that this wasn’t acceptable and that I’d seen other guests being served properly. The cashier apologized, but then the waiter came over and yelled at me, saying I should have specified which box I wanted. No one even bothered to apologize after that. Horrible, rude service. Avoid...
Read moreThe cake I bought was good but clearly overpriced. As in many of the stores in Sultanahmet, they will try to rip you off if they see you are a tourist. At first, the cashier asked me for 280 liras for a small piece of cheesecake (lol, even in Paris where I live they won't charge you that much), and when I protested he cut the price to 200 liras (which is still a lot for a piece of cake). But maybe there was gold inside, I don't know ? This is especially easy for them to rip you off since there are no prices in the store. They will ask you for whatever amount of money they want !
If this is the way you consider your clients, no thanks. I never came back during my stay and I urge you to...
