I am not a paid reviewer or a yelpbot, just a dude who loves food. This is a fair review.
We absolutely loved this place. Excellent food, reasonable prices and great service ( Hüseyin was our waiter 3 times and adds at least one star to this review).
Now for specifics. My biggest pet peeve about Sultanahmet is that many of the restaurants (even highly rated ones) are overpriced and you still get mediocre food, so when we wandered into Sofya kebab house we were pleasantly surprised by excellent food. It’s freshly made which means it takes longer but trust me it is totally worth it. The mixed appetizer plate was spot on and the fried eggplant dish had me licking my fingers.
We came here 3 times in our 9 day trip and out of all the dishes we tried the Testi kebab , sultans choice and iskender kebabs were the best.
They also have freshly squeezed pomegranate juice which I’ve you’ve never had you’ve got to try.
If you end up going here, you’ll thank me.

Read moreSo far the best food we have had in Istambul!!
The restaurant is small but they have the essence of Turkey with all the lamps, chandeliers and paintings of some of the most iconic places of Istambul.
We ordered a Cheese Spinach Pancake as appetizer (it was AMAZING!), And as a main course we had Grill vegetables and chicken on skewers... It was Perfect. The prices were great, food portions were generous and the service was above and beyond.
Amin was our waiter and I believe he is the manager of the restaurant as well... he was so attentive, kind and he ask us a few times if we needed something more and how was our food.
You should go to this restaurant without hesitation. It was Delicious( we even ordered some cheese spinach pancakes to go). We will definitely come back.
All the staff members were so friendly, lovely, attentive, and kind; Thank you for making our dinner...
Read moreGiving this a one-star review because there are many positive reviews, and it honestly doesn’t deserve it. Food was mediocre at best. Price was high for the quality. Humus was bought in a store nearby as we were sitting here (and maybe watered-down, since it was so fluid?). Menu card showed a picture of 3 skewers for the ‘lamb skewers’, but there was only 1 on the plate. Was also the worst adena kebab we’ve had all week. Asked for some olive oil for the humus, and he came out with the chef’s “special blend”, which was some oil (didn’t look/smell/taste like olive oil) with some oregano in it. People rate the atmosphere highly, and the deco is nice, but they were blasting the radio the whole time, which had at least as many loud af advertisements as songs. Would not recommend. There are better low-price restaurants off the main road with way better...
