I had the pleasure of visiting Balat's Pier Cafe and Restaurant recently, and I must say, it was absolutely fantastic in every way. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the charming and cozy atmosphere that the place exuded. The interior design was tastefully done, combining modern elements with a touch of traditional charm, creating a welcoming and relaxing ambiance. The service at Pier Cafe and Restaurant was exceptional. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was memorable. They were quick to offer recommendations and accommodate any special requests, making me feel truly valued as a guest. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Pier Cafe and Restaurant was a delightful blend of both local and international cuisine. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavors. It was evident that the chefs paid meticulous attention to detail, using fresh and high-quality ingredients. Whether it was a traditional Turkish dish or a creative fusion creation, every bite was a treat for the taste buds. The beverage selection was equally impressive, with an extensive array of refreshing drinks, including handcrafted cocktails and a diverse wine list. The baristas and mixologists showcased their skills, and I thoroughly enjoyed indulging in their creations. Another aspect that impressed me was the stunning view from the restaurant. Situated in the charming neighborhood of Balat, the Pier Cafe offered a picturesque vista of the waterfront. It was the perfect backdrop to enjoy a delicious meal and unwind after a long day. We explained to the waiter that we only had half an hour available to dine, and asked if there's anything ready. They told us yes, so we sat and waited. We were a group of 3, so we ordered 3 portions of mixed grill and 5 0.5L bottles of water. We were served 2 plates of something spicy (can't recall what it was called) as an appetizer, which was free (and tasted fine too, if you're a fan of spicy foods) . All fine up to that point, *BUT*: 25 minutes had past and the food had not arrived, so we asked if it was possible for them to prepare it as takeaway. They said yes and brought as the check, which was 3.975 Turkish Liras, or about 120€. When they were preparing our food, the staff grabbed the salads with their bare hands, which was disturbing even though it might be common in the culture. And to top it off, one portion was missing! So we pretty much payed 120€ for 2 portions of mixed grill and 5 water bottles. It was an enormous let down, and was very annoying to say the least. The food was ok. The herbs used were nice but nothing out of the ordinary or fancy. Wouldn't have stepped a foot in that place if we knew beforehand. P.S. The salads were meant to be the decoration of the plates and were just packed separately, they did not add to the price.

We ordered 2 types of Güveç, one with creamy grilled eggplant and chicken skewers on top, and another with lamb meat and vegetables. Both were extremely delicious the chicken dish were though very unique. We also ordered 2 Mezze's, Ezme and Sarma, i mean I could eat myself full with only the sarma, and so did my daughter lol. Finally, we ordered San Sebastian type cheese cake, one of the best I've tasted so far.. Really, hats down for you guys! Definitely must visit!

Definitely the best restaurant in Istanbul I have been to. Very cozy place (one must visit the second floor!) with friendly and experienced staff. Meals were delicious and for very reasonable prices. In comparison with Sultanahmed restaurants, this is another universe. Not only the meals here, but also the surroundings full of sights. The restaurant itself is situated in the ancient city wall. Must visit place when staying in Istanbul.

Food was really good. All grilled meats were very tasty. But what was so disappointed... Guy who invited us to eat in this restaurant told us to come in "because they do not have service charge and they will give us baclava as a gift from the house" After lunch we have received a recipe with tip included (we didn't tell anything about tip to the waiter) we haven't seen any baclava as well... It's been 50 minutes since we ordered and we still did not receive one dish and one drink. And we are a table of 2, it's not that complicated. I had to go to the waiter to ask for the soup. He seemed clueless, like he didn't know we ordered. And it is him who took our order. Moreover, My seafood pasta was more of a mushroom and cream pasta, with just some strange octopus on top. Avoid this turist scam.
