Hey everyone it's Hamza again and I'm back but this time in the #1 TripAdvisor rated restaurant in Goreme! I was privileged to get a taste of what Cancan has to offer...

Starters: Lentil soup - well balanced, not overloaded with salt which is good! Hummus - great texture and not drenched in olive oil. Would definitely order this on the side to accompany your main. Mix vegetable salad - great option for vegetarians here; seasoned well.

Main: Mixed grill: as the name suggests, a meat lovers overload! Nothing out of the ordinary here. I would suggest being more adventurous and going for the Cancan special.

Vegetarians have a great option in the 'mix vegetables in the oven'. Again, packed with nutrition and seasoned really well!

FINAL THOUGHTS: This is a small, family-run restaurant and are thriving due to 2 factors : they offer an extremely kind service and food which is not catered for tourists but actually is so flavourful in-line with authentic local cuisine. there is also free wifi here!

In the time I wa there I witnessed 2 acts of kindness!

1. A customer asked for non-alcohol beer and the owner ran to get some
2. I got offered a lift home by the owner on his scooter!

Suggestions for improvements: Upstairs is the main seating area but has no air conditioning! Around 35 degrees it may be good to have some cooling up there.

There is no one thing that makes this restaurant so wonderful. The family that runs it makes sure that you have only the best experience possible. While it may not look as fancy as many other restaurants you will walk by on the way to CANCAN it has other qualities - namely great food, good prices, and GREAT service. Let me just give 2 examples from my first occasion dining here. First - the owner brought HUGE amounts of complimentary food just, as he said, “to thank you for being here.” Honestly so much food was brought we were full before the main courses appeared! And that’s not to mention the free hot tea and massive fruit platter he brought at the end of the meal. Now, the second example: we hadn’t been watching the time as closely as we should have and all of a sudden it was 20 minutes before we had to be back to our hotel for our pickup and it was a 20 minutes walk. Completely our mistake and our problem - BUT, and this truly sets CANCAN apart, the owner quickly packed up our food, added extra free food and free waters!!! AND then had us driven back to our hotel free of charge. I truly cannot say enough about how wonderful this family run restaurant is. I can't believe such a place exists on Earth! 💔 I must say that this restaurant has surpassed even the fanciest restaurants in Europe in terms of experience. My partner and I came here for an early dinner, and we were warmly greeted by the owner. Even before we placed our order, he brought us complimentary drinks. We ordered two main courses from the grilled section, and while we were waiting for them, we've got a large selection of starters as a gift. There were soups, a basket of fresh bread, yogurt-based dip, shakshuka, fried rolls filled with local cheese, and a plate of almonds and dried fruits. As someone already mentioned in his review, you can be full even before you get your actual order. All the food we had was healthy, fresh, and delicious, but most important is it was made with heart and soul.
