I usually don’t leave reviews unless I’ve had an exceptionally good or bad experience. Unfortunately, my visit here fell into the latter category. I understand that this place isn’t specialized in coffee, but since it’s on the menu, I expected a certain level of quality.
I ordered a V60 Colombian coffee and was quite disappointed—it was extremely watery. I was told they used 15g of coffee to 250ml of water. For pour-over, that ratio is unbalanced and should be closer to 1:15 or 1:16 (225ml max for 15g). It felt like the extra water was added just to fill the cup rather than preserve quality.
What made it worse was the price—65 AED. For that price, I expected something close to specialty-grade coffee. Unfortunately, the quality didn’t justify the cost. Honestly, I would’ve preferred a basic instant coffee over what I was served.
I also sent a DM on Instagram with this feedback. I recommend reconsidering your coffee vendor, as the beans tasted more commercial-grade than specialty.
Wishing you the best, and I hope...
Read moreWe drove all the way to yas mall to be met with the weirdest customer service, It wasn’t bad but definitely not the best. We stood in the line for so long, plenty of tables available but no one seated us so we seated ourselves. The metal tables were not the cleanest and smelled off. The waiters never approached us we had to call them several times and wait for so long for them to come to us. When we finally ordered we asked if they offered diet soft drinks, the waiter was rude laughing and telling us that this is a healthy restaurant and they don’t offer such drinks. So weird, even tho they serve plenty of sugary desserts which am assuming are not that healthy. Food was okay but late and some dishes were not available. They brought teapot without tea cups, cutlery was not provided with food so we had to wait even though food was in-front of us. We struggled to communicate with the waiters to even get a spoon. Customer service needs to...

Had a less-than fantastic experience at Avobar — I was expecting much more based on the concept and menu. I hope this shop can slowly pull itself up to the standards, offering and ambiance that the brand evokes.
Specifically about the food, I tried their avocado shakshuka. The avo slices in it were fantastic but the shakshua itself was quite disappointing and seemed to have been made from a store-bought tomato purée rather than made from fresh tomatoes.
In a city and region where people take great pride in their traditional cuisine (and proverbial wars can break out on which country/region can truly claim a dish as theirs), their version of the shakshuka just does not cut it.
Verdict: Recommended VERY cautiously
