Scroll down for reply to the restaurant's insincere response: I have to say, this was without question the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. And that says a lot, given the many, many restaurants I’ve visited around the world. What happened to us at Abd El Wahab was not just disappointing — it was shockingly poor, outright insulting, and a disgrace for a restaurant in such a prestigious location.
At first, things seemed fine. We didn’t have a reservation, so we were seated in the third row back from the water fountain view. Fair enough. The menu had some good options, though portions were noticeably smaller than comparable dishes at other restaurants. Still, the servers were attentive in the beginning, so we accepted that and moved on.
And then everything went downhill.
The table next to us ordered shisha (hookah). At first, the staff placed it on the far side of their table — perfectly fine, since there was only an empty table there. But soon, at their request, the server moved it right in between our table and theirs — literally just a few inches from us. We don’t smoke, and suddenly we had tobacco smoke being blown into our faces. We politely asked the server to move it back to the far side, where it wouldn’t disturb anyone. Instead of simply doing the reasonable thing, the staff resisted, claiming it couldn’t be placed under a ceiling fan. The fan was barely moving any air at all, but they still argued. Only after pressing the issue did they reluctantly move it.
If that had been the end of it, fine. But it got worse.
An elderly gentleman — who I strongly suspect was either the owner or a senior manager — rolled a portable air conditioner from inside the restaurant and placed it directly beside our table. At first, I thanked him, thinking he was offering us cooling. But then he said, “Oh no, it’s for the customers over there, they said it was too hot.” So it wasn’t for us at all. He aimed the cool air at them — but he also positioned the exhaust side, blowing hot air, directly at us.
When we pointed out that we were sitting inches away from a heat vent in 90+ degree weather, he insisted it was a “water-based” system that produced no heat. That is simply false. Whether out of ignorance or dishonesty, he assured us we were wrong. But sure enough, as we continued eating, we began sweating from the hot air blasting us.
When we asked servers to move it, they resisted again. One walked away instead of helping. Only after we escalated to a manager was the heat finally redirected away from us.
By this point, the experience had gone from uncomfortable to completely unacceptable. To summarize:
Shisha was placed right beside us despite plenty of space elsewhere.
Staff argued instead of respecting a simple request.
A manager or owner placed a hot air exhaust directly at our table, then denied basic science when confronted.
Servers resisted moving it, and only after escalation did anything get resolved.
This restaurant is in a prime location with incredible views. But the treatment we received was the worst I have ever experienced in any restaurant. What should have been a pleasant evening turned into frustration, discomfort, and outright disrespect.
Abd El Wahab is a disgrace to Dubai’s dining scene. I will never return, and I strongly caution others against expecting fair or respectful treatment here. ---update below--- In reply to the restaurant's response: Oct 4th: You have asked the following two questions which seem already answered"

Read moreI have visited Abd El Wahab a few times, and various branches over the years. In fact whenever we have family or friends visiting, I usually like to take them to the restaurant. However, this visit was nothing less than disappointing! I have never been mistreated like today.
I approached the restaurant with my aunt visiting the country for first time, around 7pm with 80% of the restaurant empty. At the entrance, when I said I am looking for table for 3, Ms Poonam at the entrance looked at me and said - Ma’am just to inform you we only operate for lunch or dinner. I am not sure why she assumed I would not order much food, maybe it was her being racist not sure.
So that irritated me. I asked her, so are you telling me you don’t serve just snacks or tea, like Moroccan tea? She said no we don’t serve Moroccan tea. I countered, okay so what about juices and kebabs? Are you telling me I can’t order for beverages and kebabs? So then she was like we don’t serve kebabs? And I just stared back at her with disbelief. No kebabs served at a Lebanese restaurant? Really?
Then she responded we have arayes. By this time my aunt who was btw a senior (above 65 years of age) told me let’s leave. It’s okay. That’s when I just told Ms. Poonam that I have been to Abd El Wahab tens of times, never have I been told I can’t enter if not having proper lunch or dinner. She then became all defensive, saying I am not denying entry.
Anyway the damage was done! We decided to leave, but made myself a promise - I will never visit any Abd El Wahab branch and neither will I ever...
