Sometimes one wonders how restaurants in Dubai get awarded a Michelin star. I stopped comparing the food quality and innovation with the one I am used to in Spain, Italy or France in Michelin star restaurants. The benchmark set by the Michelin team is obviously a different one. I don't want to comment much about the food: it was good. The pigeon was even excellent. The atmosphere is superb and hasn't changed since we first been at the restaurant at its opening many years ago. We kept dining here on a regular basis and could notice a change: The service such as waiters not even able to pronounce the names of the dishes they serve was not a real issue and we kept dining there occasionally. However the class of the service as it used to be in the first years of its opening was gone. This time, on 3.7. at 20:30, we were grated a shocking experience The perfect birthday gift. We arrived on time for our reservation and despite the fact that we came numerous times before, which is easy to check in the system, we were asked whether it was our fist time. No problem, this can always happen even though not a real sign of professionalism. We sat outside for an Aperitivo and I shot a few pictures of my wife in front of the Dubai fountain scenery. I used a camera, not a mobile phone for the pictures. Once we sat down, the lady from reception came and without any apologies shouted: "This one no professional camera, forbidden, no professional camera, security reasons." Once, I told her that I am neither a professional photographer nor do I own a camera that one would qualify as a professional device. I had the pleasure to be told the same sentence again, the receptionist left us to call her manager. The manager lady appeared and mechanically repeated the same sentence. What a class! No apologies for disturbing, complete missing education on how to address a guest in a restaurant, not even talking about a 1 star Michelin location. We were left alone alone fighting with the idea of leaving immediately or giving it a chance, due to our history with the place. During dinner, the waiter who took care of us tried his best to make us feel better, but the bad aftertaste was there. He exaggerated a bit too much on items such as Mr. Armani's favourite dish: A dull ravioli plate. I know Mr. Armani's drive for perfection, care for details and exceptional taste: I hope he will never hear this. We received a nice but tasteless birthday cake to finish the dinner, which was a nice attention. Why am I writing this review? Because I care for the place. I do want the hotel management to know and to react in order to avoid such unprofessional behaviour from the restaurant manager and her assistant. It is not about informing a guest about security measures, it is about the HOW. The staff needs to be taught how to address the guests in a respectful manner and how to use the correct language to articulate a concern or pass on an information. It is unacceptable the way this is managed today. Before shining with stars, the Armani brand has its standards in staff and service, as I guest I would love to find them coming back to...
Read moreWent to Amal for my wife's 25th birthday
lovely place i even requested a seat on the terrace which i got but changed my mind after a while due to the wind
regards to the decor its lovely but that's as far as it gets
i had to order from a set menu which was a surprise
We were Served a starter platter each which was okay but not what we expected
Seekh kebab were full of ginger
I ended up ordering extra lamb chops and some shrimps which were half decent but couldn't complaint because of the occasion
Then came the mains which were bland and tasteless and had a putrid smell of gone off yogurt
i requested the waiter to remove this as the smell and the blandness had put us off even the nan was hard which came out fresh 1 minute ago
obviously we are angry right now but to make things worse i ordered my son a portion off fries which i can see a chef in the kitchen nibbling through, not what i expected at the Amal especielly through a glass window between the dining room and the kitchen
i did bring my wife a huge cake which i was going to share with all the staff at the Amal but unfortunately i it requested back untouched as this meal had ruined her birthday and that left me well embarrassed
i was charged near enough to £95 at the end because i ate the starters but the manager didn't want to it off as it would potentially cost him his job
so left it at that and i left
LEARNT A LESSON, NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER i've had a better meal in Naif and Karama than what i had in Amal
Amal please redesign your menu which will attract life long customers not one timers :)
South indian cuisine isnt what you want in Amal you that East indian Touch mixed with Punjabi cuisine
and if you need any tip in how to do that please message me i have more than 15 years in...
Read moreA Perfect Evening Thanks to Sergyush!
Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant in Armani Hotel Dubai, and it was an experience I will cherish for a long time. Everything was absolutely flawless, but the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly our waiter, Sergyush!
From the very beginning, Sergyush impressed us with his attentiveness, professionalism, and warm demeanor. He made us feel so welcome and created an atmosphere of comfort, as if we were the most important guests of the evening. His ability to anticipate our needs and provide thoughtful recommendations was truly exceptional.
Now, about the food — it was a culinary masterpiece. The Golden Burrata was incredibly tender, the Pasta Fresca was perfectly cooked, and the Tortelli Piacentini was pure bliss for the palate. The Spigola was beautifully prepared, with a perfect balance of flavors, and the Armani Tiramisu was the sweetest ending to a fantastic meal. The beverages, particularly the Fantinel PG wine recommended by Sergyush, paired flawlessly with each dish.
However, what made this evening truly magical was Sergyush’s extraordinary service. His knowledge, attention to detail, and genuine care for his guests elevated the experience to an entirely new level.
Sergyush, you are an outstanding professional and a wonderful person who brings joy to everyone you serve! Thank you so much for making this evening unforgettable.
By the way, I seem to have forgotten to mention something important. If it’s not too much trouble, could you please email me? I would greatly appreciate it!
This was an evening to remember, and I can’t wait to return to this incredible place — only to be served by...
