I made the mistake of visiting this apology of a fine dining restaurant for my mother’s milestone birthday celebration.
The food was tasteless. It was devoid of any creativity, innovation and even basic taste to justify the high price tag of a fine dining restaurant.
Deconstructed samosa chaat: This is Taj’s version of a basic trio of samosas with ketchup ( yes !! Ketchup) along with one lone samosa that had some sprinkling of sev and dahi on it. Seriously ? Is this a joke ? Take a look at even the most basic chaat restaurants in Dubai like Mr. Chaat roadside eatery opposite Burjuman metro and they do a better job of this at a fraction of the cost. This kind of presentation with no class, finesse, or innovation with a price that is 10 times higher is a slap on the face of the customer.
Malai kofta: It was a disgraceful attempt at a genuine malai kofta - the taste was off with some spice that was overpowering. Absolute piece of trash.
Multigrain roti: As their menu was full of healthy options like multigrain , Jawar and ragi roti, we decided to try their multigrain roti - it was hard as a stone with uneven edges and not palatable.
Lasooni Palak: this was ok - not the best but it was the saving grace of the dishes we ordered.
Tomato Shorba: this was fine - it was basically Rasam labelled as a tomato shorba but was one of the palatable items we ordered.
We complained and got the malai kofta changed for 24 karat gold daal makhani and got the multigrain roti changed for garlic naan.
By that time , our appetite had ended due to the bad experience.
24 karat Daal Makhni: The daal makhani was also not that tasty. Any ordinary run of the mill Indian restaurant in Dubai can serve better daal makhani than this. Even my economy class emirates flight to Mumbai has better tasting authentic daal makhani than this. It is downright gimmickry that you put a gold leaf strand on this to sell this tasteless buttery trash.
Angara Paneer: The angara paneer appetizer was also just plain round portions of tandoori paneer with no taste to it - the achaari favor did not come out at all. The beetroot pachadi that was served along with it did not pair well.
The service by Bhumik was hurried and not attentive - he was too busy to attend to us - no finesse, no welcome , no class of fine dining service. Just the basic minimum of taking the order and serving it. I do appreciate the courteousness of the other lady staff who attended to me. They did bring out a cake for the birthday and even that was tasteless and poor quality.
Apart from the sitar musician who was brilliant, and the bansuri mocktail which was good ( but extremely less in quantity) , everything else was a complete letdown.
This place is an ultimate disgrace to Dubai’s fine dining scene- they make a mockery of fine dining with pretentious service.
The entire menu needs to be thought of and revamped to justify their lavish price tag and business concept. If you cannot innovate , cannot do fusion properly or cannot think of alternative creative presentation styles/ approaches , at least serve basic normal tasty Indian food like a small restaurant in Bur Dubai or karama. However , the problem is that there is neither innovation nor does the place serve tasty food and that too tops it up with crappy robotic and pretentious service. Just a good ambience with sitar accompaniments is not enough to help maintain that high price tag.

Read moreWhat a hidden gem! The moment I dined there, I kept kicking myself for not discovering this place sooner! It's honestly so great for so many reasons. Business Bay's Taj Hotel continues to impress me with their incredible options of 5-star restaurants! And Bombay Brasserie fits right in!
With an endless variety of traditional and modernized Indian dishes, the menu at Bombay Brasserie will have your head spinning. Nevertheless, thanks to their great staff, you can easily find what you're hoping to find due to the staff's excellent recommendations and menu knowledge. Honestly, the service at Bombay Brasserie is spectacular. From the friendly welcome hostess to the table & order management, to the food-prep time management; every part of the service was top notch and reconfirmed it's 5-star value to me.
And the service was not only the reason why Bombay Brasserie deserves a 5-star. The interiors are jaw-droppingly stunning. With beautiful artwork, stunning bar, different (and stunning) seating options, no matter why and who you're dining with (and how many you are), Bombay Brasserie will be able to cater to your needs. Just my one time there, I saw people in suits for a business dinner, couples on romantic dates, families (with children), and a group of friends. No matter the occasion, Bombay Brasserie seems to be a great choice for everyone!
Their food, ofcorse, was the highlight of my experience. "Delicious" is honestly an understatement. I'm a huge fan of the Indian cuisine in general, and Bombay Brasserie simply reminded me of why I am. Endless food options with authentic flavors, great portions and beautiful presentation; there truly is no going wrong with the food at Bombay Brasserie. I especially loved their Butter Chicken (typical, I know, but it really was delicious!) and I also really loved their Bhatti Prawns, Chicken Tikka Masala, and I also highly recommend the BB Tasting Plate which has some amazing vegetarian starters! To be honest, out of the many dishes I ordered at Bombay Brasserie, there was not a single dish I did not enjoy. Everything ranged from tasty to "OMG I want more."
Overall, I highly recommend Bombay Brasserie to any and all Indian-cuisine enthusiasts. I for one know I'll be dining back there soon! Once is...
Read moreTo share my experience at the restaurant and hotel - where I only went for a meal. The service and cocktail on the lobby tapas bar was excellent.
The Bombay Brasserie is rated #2 of all restaurants in Dubai and I really appreciate Indian cuisine. I ordered the non vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairing.
The seafood tastings (tandoor prawn and seabass) were served together with two different wines at the same time - a rose and a Pinot Grigio. This was strange.
The chicken fritters and a tandoor chicken came next. The main course was particularly ample with tandoor lamb chop, potato side dish, smoked Dahl and a pickled chili lamb curry and rice along with a very flavoursome naan bread.
The food throughout particularly the meat dishes were perfectly cooked and tender and perfectly spiced but severely underseasoned. Perhaps I should have asked for salt but always this seems to be an insult to the chef at such a high end establishment . And all of the courses were accompanied by the same array of beetroot purée, saffron mayonnaise blobs. This could have been varied by course on a tasting menu at AED550.
The wine pairing was a disgrace - while I understand I am on a general alcohol free country the restaurant should understand that a glass of wine to accompany robust dishes should be more that swill at the bottom of the glass - the red wine I was served with the copious main above was maybe 40ml maximum. When I requested a top up the server was uncompromising.
The dessert was fine - two rice puddings - one bland saffron offering and one tasty vanilla ringed one but that was let down by a rock hard just out of the freezer knob of ice cream.
Generally the food was let down by just a final touch of seasoning (I failed to see chefs taste a single morsel before service as I sat at the bar watching the kitchen), somewhat harsh service and overall a severe lack of understanding how wine should be served with food.
Overall OK, disappointing but could...
