I want to start by saying that the managers and the chefs and the staff from breakfast is the best, same for what concerns the concierge service! Five stars for them, for their smile and their know-how. All the rest, honestly I feel for the image of the hotel! This is NOT a 5 stars, starting with the fact that everything you pay or buy is not charged on the room and fixed up at check out but you need to pay straight away. This means that the day my phone died by the pool at the 64th of floor of the building and I wanted to order a juice at the bar, I was sent back to my seat because “sorry you have to pay” (the barman has never learnt the standards for a 5 stars resort apparently) I tried to stay calm despite he’s being this rude and waited for my phone to come back to life and then walk again to the bar.
Secondly, which is the most serious issue I had during my stay, was the Asian manager (Christine, I don’t really remember her name) behaviour. I booked with an apparent 20% discount on all my consumptions , a room upgrade and a 100 aed voucher for the spa. No one mentioned this at check in (I more than one time asked them if the hotel was so poor that they expected me to remember them) so I had no upgrade, I paid fully the day I visited the spa (120 AED) and no discount on my bar consumption. But the most unacceptable thing is that when I tried to mention the mistake, the lady didn’t want to acknowledge it at all, blaming me for not mentioning in first place. I asked for a simple voucher matching the amount I had improperly already spent, and she didn’t want to issue one. She tried to offer me a 20% off on next consumptions (I’d leave the following morning) which sounded like a joke to me as I had plans for the night already, but she probably meant I had to change plans and staying for dinner. I asked to have a voucher for the same amount issued as I was about to have lunch at their restaurant but she kept rumbling on with offering something else. Which I didn’t want, cause I only wanted what I had improperly spent, not gifts whatsoever. Then she realized how upset I was, she faked to have a chat with the restaurant manager, came back to me saying all solved, the manager agreed. Pity the restaurant was closed that day as it was Sunday so she surely didn’t speak to anyone (as I realized at the end of my lunch) so I decided to have lunch at the 64th floor, the pool restaurant. At the moment to ask for the bill, the guy showed a 20% off on the bill, I asked what that was and he went like “that is what the manager said to me”. At that point I felt really played, he didn’t even want to solve the situation and told me he would call her. After 10 minutes he said she would come upstairs. Seriously? This looked honestly a joke for 5 stars, again I would not even be this picky If I stayed in an average hotel… she finally came back to say she could not give any voucher bla bla bla but only the 20%. At that point I was so pissed I told her I wanted only to pay and leave. They left me there waiting for another 10 minutes (I was alone in the restaurant) and I had to stand up and go look for them outside on my own where they prepared the check at the bar. Honestly disgusting, I honestly never experienced anything like this in my travelling life. It’s not finished yet. They give me the check and there was no 20% off, I was quiet at that point but so pissed. At that time she started whining saying she would provide a taxi for the airport the following day… basically offending as I could not afford it. I tried to explain her I didn’t need it and I wasn’t begging for EXTRA money, only for what I was entitled to have and for their lack of service and professionalism I had to pay fully. Ive never seen her afterwards, not even an apology. I work in the same industry, I know how to deal with guests. Read more!!!AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! I stayed at Paramount after knowing about it online, but honestly speaking. This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. Their service is horrific with nearly all workers there looking miserable. I have several points which I want to address. The first and most important being the valet team who are of a 1* hotel. I gave my car to them which was in pristine condition and there were no dents on the car. I give it to them and when I receive it in the morning, there is a dent on the car above the wheel. This being a rental car, the rental car would charge me for any damage. Before I left the premises I complained about it and they said they would check the CCTV and see if they could see anything. I came back and they told me there was no suspicious activity. However, I know for a fact that the dent was not there before as I had checked the car throughly before giving it in! They do not care about basic rental cars and they only car if you have a Ferrari or Lamborghini which they run to the guests as soon as they park up. When I initially arrived to check in, no one came to greet me for a good 5/6 minutes. It was extremely unprofessional and all the workers seemed like they didn’t care. Moreover, when I dropped the car to them the next time after complaining how they had damaged the car, before taking it inside the valet car park, they started to take pictures of my car. I asked them why and they told me that this was a policy they do and they have always done it. But then, why was this not done initially when I gave my car in the previous day?? They are about absolute LIARS.
The room given to me was dirty and the water pressure was extremely low. You would spend several minutes just to wash your face in that sink.
After all of this, we went to check out and the front desk didn’t even ask us how our stay was, which is the normal thing to ask to any guest at a hotel. Everyone here seemed unbelievably rude. I told them all the complaints I had and so they asked the hotel manager Alex to come and speak to us of which he told us he wouldn’t be able to do anything for our stay and that he could only offer future stays or give us an excursion. We wanted to do jet skiiing so we agreed to go down and speak to the excursion guy. He told us that the price was 777AED but he would do it for 650AED. HOWEVER, there normal price is 600!! This is without even bargaining. There are plenty other jet ski companies who are in the same vicinity at this one which was called Sun and Fun. Even their excursion guy was dodgy and just scams you by inflating the prices even more than what it is.
Not happy whatsoever with anything in this hotel. It is so crap and I wouldn’t even stay there if they paid me.
EDIT: The front desk manager Alex has said he would offer various other deals which meant us COMING BACK to Paramount and being upgraded for free to a suite. But as I mentioned, I wouldn’t come back even if they paid me. All of their “several offers” which they had offered is complete nonsense. Such as, complimentary spa credit of 100AED or, discount on an excursion, which I mentioned I had overcharged. I had told the excursion guy and he has said I can get a refund of only 50AED so it’s the normal price??? I was meant to get a 25% discount which was told to Alex, but I DID NOT. 777 AED to 650 AED is not 25%. DO THE MATH. I was scammed in the hotel and no one is trust worthy. I arrived early in the morning and tried to check-in in the morning, but the hotel said it was not on the reservation list. And I only got an answer to talk to my travel agency. There were rooms used by staff around our rooms. It was difficult to see the Burjhalifa from the room, and it was a room that could barely be seen from the left corner after leaving the balcony. There were no amenities such as toothbrushes in the accommodation. The room was really bad, but we didn't have any more scuffles I held it in because I wanted to rest. I had breakfast as soon as I checked in, but most of them were salty and had a strong scent, so I didn't have anything else to eat other than eggs. I went twice and didn't go. The hotel location is very few places to walk. As a leader, it looks close to Dubai Mall, but the walking environment is not good in Dubai, so I took a starch taxi. It's not easy to take the subway. Wi-Fi is very slow. Except for the staff of the reception and reservation parts The staff were kind. I especially liked the staff at Gfloor.
