Café Bateel - Marina Walk, Dubai — Restaurant in Dubai

One of our default breakfast/lunch places when we have visitors. Is this place a bit overpriced? Yes. Is it nice for a meal / hot drink with dessert? Definitely.

Pluses: Fresh bakery: you get freshly baked, delicious bread with your meals. You can buy it to go, or just enjoy bread basket when you dine in Menu: Very diverse menu for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. We always have plenty of options to choose from. I quite like their soups (e.g. asparagus soup, tomato soup, pumpkin soup are all good), also breakfast options are nice (e.g. french toast - if you're lucky it'll have more crunch on the outside) Desserts: please give them a try, they are so tasty! I think desserts are the reason I am a loyal customer. My favorites: blueberry cheesecake, kholas pistachio pie, salted caramel & dark chocolate mille feuille.. Basque cheesecake is quite nice as well.. There's a lot of options to choose from depending on your mood Service: majority of times the service is good Outdoor seating area: Never sat indoors (that area got renovated recently), but the outdoor area is quite nice, it's next to the marina so you have a pleasant view, and the restaurant is conveniently located a few minutes walk to the metro/tram stations on the marina

Minuses: Price tag: quite high in comparison to many other places Inconsistency: of service and food quality. One of my favorites - french toast - sometimes comes nice and crunchy on the outside, sometimes more soft and soggy... I like the food here overall but as I tend to come regularly I sometimes notice inconsistencies Matcha quality: Very low quality matcha unfortunately... I see bateel as a sign of quality so I was a bit disappointed in it.. I think they are using lower grade, cooking quality matcha (vs drinking, ceremonial grade) which you can see by the color of the drink, and can taste as it's more bitter and powdery (also you get clumps in your drink as it's not whisked properly).. I really hope Bateel will invest into higher quality product as it's currently a bit of a let-down for matcha lowers. I was in catering many moons ago , but i still can see things that aren't right! popped to above bateel cafe just a stroll from my aprt. Noticed straight away, no AC! anyway order a children's mil for my daughter, Penne pasta in tomato sauce, when arrived I was shocked with the amount on her plate, completely shocked! Called the Manager, after awhile I went look for her and found her, and express my discontent , my daughter toke less than 3 minutes to finish what was in the plate, she went away to talk with chef and let me know that the portion had 90 grams of portion!! I nearly fall out of my chair! I am still gobsmacked with that.here is this chain of cafe's restaurants making money out of children's portion menu , its make me really furious this people are allowed to be in business, my childs plate had less than 100 grams of pasta!! This weekend we happened to come to Bateel Cafe at Marina Walk for breakfast. We sat outside and enjoyed. The place itself is nicely located in an attractive area. And right now still the weather allows to eat outdoors and feel great. The proximity to water and the view on yachts and skyscrapers gives a very special impression. I live in Dubai, but for me it was like being on vacation. As for the breakfast, I’ve taken Avocado toast with poached eggs and coffee. The latter was curiously served in a tea-pot, which actually kept it hot for longer. The poached eggs were exactly as soft as I prefer them to be, and the toast was delicious. My son enjoyed the breakfast from the kids menu, which had around 6 options of the dish to choose from, plus ice cream and a drink.
