My husband and I did not plan to visit any place to eat when we were around the area but we were both starving while running errands last weekend.
I only wanted to eat something that would bring warmth and comfort and I had no particular dish in mind.
My husband, being the better researcher between the 2 of us, found Calcutta Imperial Dragon Restaurant. This is close to Sharaf DG metro station. We got there a little after 12 pm; we were the first diners although we saw a couple tables reserved at 2pm.
While the interior design presented an old restaurants vibes to it; kind of like giving you the 80s vibes, it was spotless! I think it was the manager who welcomed us and ushered us to our table. There were several options to choose from on the menu so we went for a couple dishes that we felt were good to try based on the server’s feedback. We ordered fish and chose the one w with ginger sauce and veg noodles. I totally forgot the names and even forgot to take photos when they served us the dishes. 🥲 We agreed that we’d order more if we feel like eating more or if the servings wouldnt be enough. Surprisingly, the servings were generous, filling and more importantly, they brought warmth and comfort! Both dishes were tasty. We also ordered fresh carrot and orange juice drinks and asked for lots of ice. They were refreshing! There were a couple servers at this time but we never experienced any delay in our orders considering there was another family who got there several minutes after we did. We paid close to 100Dhs for 2 pax which was worth it! Thanks to the entire team for being welcoming and for serving good food! We’ll come back for sure, will try other dishes and take...
Read moreOrdered in from a delivery app a meal for myself; ordered chicken chowmein and called the restaurant to request them to replace chicken with fish (which is rather considered same range/ lower) to which the guy was asking 4 aed extra; which is weird because I have never experienced this in any other restaurants in Dubai; when I told him I ordered through a delivery app cant u just replace the chicken with fish and deliver (they didnt even have fish chowmein listed on the menu so technically no way to know what that extra 4 aed he was asking for) however, the point was the difficulty of transaction of that 4 AED given the order was from a delivery app. This man wanted me go through the entire hassle of reaching out to the customer care of the app and telling him that I need to pay 4 aed in cash to the delivery person when he arrives etc etc (honestly we dont even keep 1 aed cash in the house). All of it just for 4 AED. Would have been rather happy if he would have told me that okay we will accept your customisation request whenever you visit the restaurant or come around this area please do pay the 4 AED. I would have happily given a 5 star rating. Shows the mentality of the management; On other notes the food portion and quality is not even worth how much they charge, no way near to the actual kolkata food. Never ordering from here anymore just for...

Special thanks to Patrick Uncle, the owner-manager, whose personal touch makes all the difference. He’s so hands-on and thoughtful — don't miss asking him for food recommendations tailored to your taste!
And the little gesture of offering us prawn chips? It’s small moments like these that turn a good dining experience into an unforgettable one.
PS: If you are Bengali, or if Kolkata’s Chinatown holds a special place in your memories, you absolutely must visit. You’ll find not just the taste you miss, but the feelings too.
