HOW TO RUIN A HUSBAND AND WIFE DATE NIGHT!
I am giving this a establishment a 1 star SOLELY for the reason of the Restaurant’s Manager by the name of Mr. Paul ruining our date night by offensively telling us that we are “acting inappropriately” for SITTING BESIDE each other. 🤦♀️
We were having a great start of the night- service staff was so attentive, friendly and the food was great. But an hour in to my husband and I enjoying our meal and drinks, we were approached by Mr. Paul (restaurant manager) to advise us that we were not allowed to sit beside each other as it’s INAPPROPRIATE and pointed out the other couple beside us sitting opposite each other. He came on so strong that we were really offended and left a bad taste in our mouth!
Now- firstly! We DID NOT see ANY NOTICE about this supposed “cultural norm”. We have been in Dubai for 15 years - 10 years of which as a married couple sitting beside each other even at the most luxurious restaurant in the Dubai! And yes - we were just sitting beside each other with occasional feeding each other to have a taste of the other’s plate( wholesome btw! We’ve been in this country long enough to know the laws!) Second- my husband works for one of the biggest local F&B restaurants in the country catering to locals- and even they dont have an issue with MARRIED couples wanting to sit beside each other.
The restaurant is good and service staff exceptional(apart from Mr. Paul) but it’s a big disservice to the establishment to have a manager who seems to have a tryrannical attitude and dare I say “profiling” man in its management role.
I had asked to talk to Mr.Paul again after his tirade to us in a calm manner- he did apologize for his “strong behavior “ while still justifying on why he did that as apparently catering to cultural norms. 🤷🏻♀️
Anyway, this is one establishment that we are definitely NOT COMING BACK to nor RECOMMENDING to our couple friends who LOVES to sit beside each other. I feel bad for the friendly and competent staff who has to be under the directive of such mindset in a progressive...
Read moreGREAT OFFER ON LADIES & GENTS NIGHT ON TUESDAYS – AMAZING FOOD!
The Grand Grill is located in the Habtoor Grand Hotel in the Dubai Marina.
They have valet parking in the hotel which is free of charge if you are visiting the restaurant.
We visited the restaurant as we heard about their new "Ladies & Gents" nights on a Tuesday evening and the offer seemed too good to miss.
Ladies can enjoy a 3 course set menu (including a fillet steak for the main course) as well as select free-flowing beverages all evening for just AED 125 (£25). Gents can enjoy all you can eat chicken & ribs for just AED 115 or AED 185 (£37) with 4 beverages included.
We made a reservation in advance as we imagined (with an offer like this) the restaurant would be quite busy – we were right! We arrived at the restaurant and it had a great vibe and even better atmosphere. The lighting was dimmed, décor was sophisticated and it had a very romantic ambience.
We were greeted by a friendly waiter who seated immediately. We had a great table, right beside the kitchen, meaning you could see the chefs cooking the food fresh. He helped us with our menu choices and explained the ladies & gents night offers in more detail.
The food was delicious - one of the best steaks we have tasted for a while and the heaped plate of chicken and ribs was enough to feed an entire football team, there was more than enough to keep us satisfied.
The restaurant has a great aura and has a romantic feel. It is perfect for a special occasion or a date. There were also families there in the booths enjoying a nice evening together so it really is suitable for everyone (and the perfect choice if you are staying in the hotel). It's also great for a friends dinner or girls night out as the atmosphere makes it very flexible.
Overall we loved our visit to The Grand Grill and have already recommended it to several friends, we can't wait to visit again!

Read moreBased on my NYE experience, the place is poorly managed by a manager who has excuses.
Arrived at 2030hrs received my dinner at 2349hrs. The loneliest steak in the middle east, was overcooked, no seasoning and to top it off cold when served. The only decent thing I put in my mouth was the bread and the ribs from kids menu. NYE complimentary drink was served after bringing in the New year.
Since the manager had no clue how to control guests from enjoying their night. He decided to turn the music off before midnight, so we sat in a non ambient atmosphere.
The best part he has the audacity to tell me, that I will come back to his establishment, instead of apologizing for his clueless behavior and lack of management. At least I started my New Year with the ultimate joke.
Conclusion : Never going to visit this...
