The Underground Pub — Restaurant in Dubai

AVOID: I was a guest at the Hotel and on the 28th May, me and my brother wanted to watch the football, Champions League Final. We went downstairs to the pub, had some miscommunication with the bouncer. Walked in and the waiter told us we need to spend 250 dirhams per person during that night. My brother who is 19 and the drinking age is 21+ in UAE, was only able to buy coke, so to go above the spending he would need to buy 10 cokes or fantas whatever. We said ok then we're leaving. The bouncer didn't let us leave because we were already inside and had to spend the 500 dirhams. We sat down and we were there for 1h30m roughly, until the same happened to another family. They made a scene, we made a scene with them and was told we can leave by the manager. The bouncer at the door was holding us back saying we can't leave and he needs to confirm with manager. We waited another 5 mins looking for the manager and then finally they let us out. WE WERE KEPT THERE AGAINST OUR WILL FOR 1.5 HOURS! I had been here over the weekend and had the best experience ever! The place as they call is actually 'underground'. Upon entering you'll notice how well it is set up. The outdoors too are very welcoming, but we chose indoors because of the weather. It had a lot of tables and yet mostly occupied. Luckily we had reserved a table. The vibe here was great! There was good music, and soon the live band too started playing. They even had games, we started playing darts till our order arrived. We went with a few drinks along with some nibbles - jalapeno cheese balls, chicken strips and nachos. Cheese balls were a bomb, absolutely loved them! Chicken strips too were super crispy and tasted amazing. Nachos were a bit dry but were served with sauces on side which we poured over and it was all good. Then we had some veg spring rolls and wedges too which also tasted great. We ended out meals with some sticky toffee pudding which was absolutely heavenly. My first visit was alright.. Was served mediocre chili nachos. Had servers call us to the dart board from across the pub which was weird to say the least. Bouncer was weirdly jumpy and asked for id and reservation details 3 times but we let it slide. Decent but inconsistent happy hour menus with the staff members informing us of 2 different happy hour systems, 1 involving all happy hour options and the other being a specific happy hour menu. Great sports environment. However, upon my second visit, i reserved through google to attend a football match and upon arrival, i was told that they hadnt received a reservation under my name despite me showing them the email. I was then offered a place on the 40 minute waitlist. This is unacceptable service and completely down to the restaurant to manage bookings.
