I picked up a takeaway of the Saj Chicken Shawarma from Halla Shawarma restaurant yesterday, and here's my review. Despite passing by this place many times in Burjuman and always feeling curious about it, unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations.
Taste: The shawarma had a very average taste. The spicy sauce seemed more for appearance than actual flavor, lacking the expected kick. Additionally, the shawarmas seemed hastily prepared, resulting in improperly toasted saj bread. Despite staying right behind the mall, by the time I got home, the shawarma had become soggy.
Cost: In all my years in Dubai, I've never been charged extra for making a shawarma spicy until now. Despite the extra charge, the shawarma wasn't actually spicy. The overall cost of the shawarma and sauces didn't justify the taste. Paying AED 7 for a regular small kubs shawarma and AED 14 for a slightly bigger saj shawarma felt excessive, especially considering there are tastier and more cost-effective options nearby. The highlight was the box of garlic paste provided, which is always a crowd-pleaser.
As a new establishment in the mall, Halla Shawarma needs to step up its game. They could either improve the taste and toast the shawarmas better to provide better satisfaction for the price or make them more cost-effective to offer better value...

After I finished, I handed my tray over and sadly forgot my unfinished juice on the tray, very silly mistake! I noticed only after leaving the shop, and when I came back it was already thrown away, but they still offered to make me a new one even though it was not their fault at all. Unfortunately I couldn't take their offer as I had to catch the last bus, but I was very touched by it and I hope to visit again.
One thing to note is that the cashier lady did take my order incorrectly, I ordered beef and they gave chicken, but I didn't notice until I already began eating, but I didn't want to switch anymore, I'm sure they would have given me the right order if I informed them but I didn't mind keeping the chicken shawarma instead. Read moreI’ve been a regular customer at Burj Mahal, but today’s experience was disappointing. The reception was unfriendly, and the queue management was slow and disorganized.
I placed order #166 but wasn’t given the usual vibrating pager — they said they would call my number instead. In such a large hall, that didn’t make sense. There was no proper system, and while some customers were served quickly, others (like me) were left waiting without any updates.
Meanwhile, I called the call center to follow up, but it was very difficult to explain the situation and get clear information. I’m not sure what’s going wrong — both store service and customer support seem to have dropped in quality.
Later, I found out my order had been ready and sitting on the counter for a while. The supervisor told me there were no pagers available, but I noticed customers after me were still getting them. This inconsistency was frustrating.
