For some time, I was debating whether or not to leave a review. I came across the restaurant’s reviews and realized that I should share my experience after all.
When I walked into the restaurant, I asked at the reception for a table. They told me I could choose any table I liked. More than half of the restaurant was empty. As I was being shown to a table by a hostess in an unflattering pink dress, I was surprised—this is a Michelin restaurant, after all, and I would expect the staff whom guests pay close attention to, and follow to their seats, to look more polished. I mentioned that I would prefer to sit closer to the window. She replied that the table by the window was meant for four people, not two. I told her that I wouldn’t be staying long and that, given how many tables were free, I didn’t understand what the issue was. At that point, visibly annoyed, she walked over to the window table herself and pushed the small square table aside so I could sit there. I could feel her anger and aggression, and from that moment on, it was unpleasant for me to be there.
Shortly after, another woman in a black suit—probably a manager—came over and kindly smoothed things over. I decided to stay and give the place a second chance.
It turned out to be a bit ironic. Out of the entire menu, there was barely anything I actually wanted to eat. I ended up ordering snails—there were only about five or six, and one of them didn’t even contain a snail inside. Besides that, nothing else appealed to me—the way the dishes were described didn’t sound appetizing or spark any interest. I even went on Instagram to see if I could find something visually appealing, but there were hardly any photos of food. I saw a duck dish that caught my eye, but spent around 15 minutes trying to find out how it was prepared. I don’t like duck cooked sous-vide or at low temperature, and they couldn’t give me a clear answer. In the end, I realized I couldn’t order it either, as I’d most likely end up disappointed.
Eventually, I had just some bread with butter, a small plate of snails, and a dessert that the waiter thankfully recommended—at least that left me feeling a little full. But I didn’t enjoy it, because the entire experience had already been tainted...
