So this was our second visit in a week !! This time it was specially to meet the Chef Ranveer Brar. Words cannot express his humbleness & grounded attitude , the welcome and respect we got from Chef was beyond words…. Lets get straight to food now Dhokla chaat : very tasty, a must try for Dhokla lovers 5⭐️ Dahi badam ke kabab : soo soo soo moist & tasty, i have had dahi kabab earlier and today i realized were they actually the kabab’s . 5 ⭐️ ratings Mushroom ke galavat : second amazing kabab it was, something way beyond expectations. The taste & flavors were amazing. 5⭐️ ratings Shahi dahi balla : the presentation was very nice, dahi balla can be a bit soft & spongy. Again the taste was good. Can skip and try other starters. 4⭐️ rating. Gobhi mussalan bake : Yum, Wow, super duper hit it was. Must must must try in veg option. 5⭐️ rating Kadhai subji : though the flavours were good, the taste of Indian spice & dried coriander was very clear but as we were very much into Gobi mussalan… the level of comparison was way far beyond. It felt like kind of saute vegetable with Indian spices. 4⭐️ rating Double tadka dal : now this was Chef’s special i felt. “desi khane main Ghee aur butter ki kami nai honi chaiye”. A MUST TRY dal, the flavors the tadka the smell, you can go on pouring it in ur bowl more and more. 5⭐️ rating Bread section : butter naan was very soft, and Bharwan kulcha was the repeated order of last time so it was obviously good. 5⭐️ rating Paan Mousse : again it was a repeated desert for us… the flavour of paan masala in mousse and the crust given with it and that cherry n sauce made it more tasty. 5⭐️ rating Gulab jamun cheese cake : a baked cheese cake with saffron cream and the sauce on the sides… it was another superhit desert , the taste of mini gulab jamun was also very much obvious. A club of many little things which taste better together also had its own diff taste. 5⭐️ rating

Long version: I made a reservation when they opened for the day, we were celebrating a birthday and had some members of our group with allergies which they said they can accommodate. We arrived at the restaurant, seated and had to ask the hostess when she was bringing in other guests to flag down our server because none of the wait staff were looking in our direction for a good 5 minutes. He finally came and we informed him of the allergies, when he came back to confirm what my husband could eat he gave a list of vegan dishes… but my husband isn’t vegan! At this point we asked for the manager as we didn’t want to take a chance if they didn’t understand the allergy again. The manager promptly figured out the options and we finally placed our orders.
We asked them to bring out all the food together or at least certain dishes sooner than later, but it seems like they listened, but did what they wanted. We understood that the allergen friendly food would take longer, no problem, but the other people on our table were waiting for the rest of their food - kabobs arrived but no rice or rotis until the kabobs were cold.
Some dishes had kabobs with a salad/kachumber - staff would plate the kabobs, but not salad and whisk it away before we could take it. I’ve never experienced such jarring service in a restaurant before.
That being said, the food was absolutely delicious! The chef came out to speak with us midway and we all raved about the food. Truly the only highlight of the experience.
The entire time we were constantly baffled by their service that we didn’t enjoy our overall experience which is a shame because the food and ambiance were great.
I’d like to hope that they can bring their service up to speed considering they refer themselves as “the best Indian...
Read moreBeing big fan of Ranveer Brar and his YouTube cooking videos I had to try his new restaurant in Dubai. I must say my expectations were too high as I have seen his very critical judgement passed on in his show master chef. And ofcourse I had a competitive observation between kashkan and kinara by Vikas Khanna ( which I love). So coming back to Kashkan: it’s located on 1st floor Dubai festival city mall. The interior is very good. On entrance a reception will take you over to the table. Nice lake view from outside seating area.
The menu has many good options both in veg and non veg and drinks. (Non alcoholic) . Not sure if they serve alcohol.
Tried Black dal with 24 carat ghee. Its taste like dal makhni but richer 😄. Hariyali chicken : it was tasty , mildly spicy but I felt chicken was a little harder. Mutton fried gravy( I don’t remember the exact name) it was tasty , some what like Hyderabadi mutton fry. Over all not too great but not too bad as well.
Umm Ali with some chai flavour: it was yummy (brought back childhood memories of dipping in all the Khari in chai and eating with spoon) but on costly note. I wish this umm Ali was a little more warmer and cream was little thicker ( whipped cream did not make justice to it)
Drink : tried berries shikanji : too sweet due to syrup used I guess of berries but refreshing. Cola shikanji : is like jaljeera with cola
Over all for the cost I felt it did not make justice because I was expecting a little more high end service. The service was like any other good restaurant we have in Dubai, nothing special like star chef restaurant other than cost of course. Would like to point out one small thing , one of the waiter who served food smelled really bad. And this really gave a slight bad impression of service. If I compare cost between Kashkan and kinara ,
I would recommend kinara by Vikas Khanna as its gives you the feeling of eating in a Michelin star chef restaurant. It’s worth the...
