Update 27/10/2023 -- I am very sad to say that the new owners of this space reported that Jean Marie, the owner of La Gourmandise, had passed away. This business is now a very nice Turkish pastry shop, and they are continuing to make some French pastries to continue the tradition.
Original Review: This is an excellent French patisserie that easily beats out any of the ones we went to when we lived in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The croissants and pains au chocolat taste like the best ones we had when we lived in Paris and the éclairs are honestly phenomenal. The galettes des rois are divine (with a real fêve!) for the Epiphany in January (a seasonal specialty well worth trying if you're not French and don't know about it)! And it's not just the sweets that are good -- we are thankful to have someone in Aberdeen who makes a proper baguette.
