BEWARE allergy sufferers! Very disappointed in this newly opened local Indian restaurant. My son suffers from an allergy to nuts and therefore we informed the restaurant employees in person multiple times, when my son and I were seated.
I was told multiple times that our Whole Sea-Bass Masala Grilled (Full Meal) under Fisherman’s Favourite in the menu, would not contain any nut ingredients and any nut based food would be removed from our serving.
Despite this, we were shocked to discover that the Whole Sea-Bass Masala Grilled was served with cashew nuts mixed into the lemon rice.
When we spoke to the waitress, she assured us that the dishes that we ordered had no nuts or no traces of nuts in them, she even told us that she has told the chef that we had a severe nut allergy and to avoid any traces of nuts when preparing the food.
Therefore, when my son received his meal he trusted the fact the waitress ensured him that there was no nuts in the food that he was eating. My son had a few bites of the meal and discovered something was not tasting right with the meal. My son then asked the waitress if she was sure if there was no nuts in the food, she once again ensured my son and myself that there was no nuts in my son’s meal. The waitress then disappeared, for a few minutes, she then came back and casually said that she “asked the chef and although the fish has no nuts the lemon rice has cashew nuts in it”, the way she said it did not look like she cared at all. As a result, my son was hospitalised for 8 hours.
I would also like to highlight the fact that the menu does not specifically identify all the ingredients or the possible allergens that they may contain, instead in small font at the bottom of the menu it provides one small paragraph for all of the dishes and that explains that some of the dishes may have certain allergens and therefore you should tell the employees about your allergy. My son followed this advice and rules provided by the establishment and even then the food he got could have...
Read moreI recently visited this South Indian restaurant and had one of the most satisfying dining experiences. In fact, I was so impressed that I ended up visiting two nights in a row, trying nearly everything on the menu!
🍴 Food Experience Chicken Peralan – Richly spiced, balanced flavors, and cooked to perfection. A true standout dish.
Chicken 65 – Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Perfectly seasoned and one of the best versions I’ve had.
Mutton Roast – Absolutely delicious, tender meat with bold spices that carried the authentic Kerala touch.
Duck Curry – Deep, flavorful curry with a rustic taste. Perfect with the appam and Kerala parotta.
Masala Dosa – Crispy dosa with well-seasoned potato masala inside. What really stood out was the sambar—one of the best I’ve tasted, with a depth of flavor that lingered.
🥘 Bread & Rice Appam, Kallappam & Kerala Parotta – All were excellent! Soft, fresh, and the perfect accompaniment to the curries. The parotta was especially flaky and layered beautifully.
Chicken Kothu Parotta – Good in texture and flavor, though I felt the coriander leaves were a bit overpowering, masking the other spices. A minor tweak could make this dish outstanding.
Coconut Rice – This was the only disappointment for me. It didn’t capture the authentic, fragrant flavor of traditional coconut rice and felt somewhat off compared to the other outstanding dishes.
🐟 Seafood & Specials Nendakar Fish Platter – Simply amazing! The fish was well-prepared, but what stole the show was the sauce with mussels—rich, savory, and absolutely mouthwatering. Even thinking about it makes me crave it again!
🌟 Overall Experience The food here is authentic, flavorful, and cooked with care. Except for the coconut rice, everything we tried was outstanding. Service was friendly, and the consistency across dishes was impressive.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic South Indian (especially Kerala-style) food. The variety, taste, and quality make it worth visiting...
Read moreThis is the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Myself and partner went in at 7pm and got a table for two, we were sat down immediately then ignored for 15 minutes before we were given menus and asked if we wanted drinks. We ordered a small starter to share and two mains, two rices and a bread.
The starter arrived pretty quickly but after over an hour (not exaggerating) I approached the server to ask where our food was. It was slightly busy but there was still empty tables and during the hour since we had order tables had come in, got their food and left. Anyway I mentioned we’d been waiting over an hour and where was the food, I was told oh yeah sorry don’t worry it’s on our way.
After the table next to us which had come in at the same time as I approached the server got their mains I went up again and asked where the food was. The server apologised and was vague about when it was arriving, then the manager (I’m assuming) came out and said it’s busy and foods on our way. I said we don’t want it and we are leaving, I offered to pay for the drinks and starter which they gave us for free.
We were one hour and 45 minutes and ruined our evening as we had plans to do something which left us very little time to do as we were still hungry and went elsewhere. What’s worse is due to our work schedule this was our valentines night we were having a week early and our entire plans were ruined.
The restaurant itself had nice decor and the other tables food smelt and looked nice but I can’t confirm whether that was the case.
Personally I will never try this place again because the service and experience was abysmal and there are lots of other restaurants in Aberdeen worth your...
