I've been to this pub twice. The first time I visited with a colleague, it was nice and quiet and we were served quickly, the prices were okay for the city centre. The second time, I came in with my family who were somewhat older and they took a little while longer to climb the narrow winding dark staircase. The waitress who was waiting at the top of the stairs glared at me, loudly tutted and then complained to someone in the kitchen that we were taking ages (even after I apologised to her when I walked past), thinking that I could not hear her. I feel that this is rude, unprofessional behaviour and awful customer service. In the end I said in front of her that I did not want to stay in a pub with rude staff and we immediately left. Read morePretty pathetic service my partner ordered the bangers and mash and asked for the lady behind the bar to put the gravy on the side. Reason being she has gluten intolerance and the reply was "sorry I don't have the energy today, I can't do that". My gf didn't hear her properly so continued with the order. It came out with gravy all over it so not wanting to make a fuss she took some tablets to help her digest it. Now she's bed ridden and it's ruined our trip to Bath. What kind of appalling customer service is that? Don't recommend at all as even serving your customers properly is too hard apparently!...
Read moreSaturday lunch and afternoon pints Old school pub with dated interior but this was great and added loads of character. Had three or four local beers on handpumps and tried three and all were good. Quiet although hidden away a bit down an alley which suited us as away from tourist drag.. Staff were very friendly and we had great service. Chef pointed out specials and we ended up having one those, some lovely chicken with excellent salads. Sat in the seating upstairs with window boxes in full colour and a sunny day. Very reasonably prices for good food. ...
