I’ve been visiting Landrace ever since it opened its doors here in Bath. It’s my favourite place for coffee, cake (their cardamom buns are to die for), general groceries (now they are a shop) and their amazing freshly baked bread/baguettes. The reason why I love it here so much, is because the team are such a happy, hard working, passionate bunch and NEVER have I experienced ill manners, rudeness or attitude from any of them since they opened their doors. In fact, they are forever cheerful which I absolutely love. Daff & Doug are 2 of the best barista’s in town and the Workshop coffee they serve here (and now sell - lucky me) is the best. During lockdown, Andrew & his team worked so hard to keep the cafe running as a take out service, serving us locals some of the best fruit & veg in town. The best I’ve ever tasted in the UK in fact. This cafe might be small, but it is MIGHTY! Thank you Landrace for deciding to open your doors here in Bath and for everything you’ve done during lockdown. Bath would not be the same without you or your buns :) Keep up the good work, the friendly smile and, most importantly,...

Cute little bakery in a quieter area tucked away from the city centre. Tried their cinnamon bun and chocolate chip cookie to takeaway. Recommend going earlier in the day, as the bakes go fast. There's a selection of sweet and savoury so there's something for everyone.

Be mindful that the products can get pricey. Paid £4.50 for a cinnamon bun, but it was still fresh the next day. So, you're paying for a skillful bake.

Unfortunately, I can only give 3/5 stars because the style of chocolate chip cookie was too gooey and tasted almost under baked. Appreciate this is subjective. However, something that's not as easy to stomach is the cost of a paper bag for 50p. In addition to this, the cinnamon bun needed something extra, like raisins, to give it a more interesting texture and a bit of sweetness to balance out the dominance of cinnamon; more doesn't always...

I’ve visited this café before and really enjoyed their matcha, it was thick, vibrant, and delicious. However, during my most recent visit, I was very disappointed. I ordered the same matcha, but this time it was pale, watery, and had no taste. I politely raised this with the waitress (ginger hair and glasses), but instead of acknowledging the issue, she was dismissive and rude. I was told there was “no water” in it, even though the drink clearly lacked any milk texture and was filled with ice. I asked if I could get a new one, and she said she would remove the ice what I received was a tiny amount of liquid (barely two sips). It felt insulting and unprofessional, especially considering I was raising my concern respectfully. Really disappointing experience. I hope the staff is trained to handle feedback better and treat customers with more courtesy...

I think this might be my favourite coffee yet. I had an iced latte with oat milk and honestly – wow. As someone who regularly drinks alternative milks, I’ve come to accept that most oat milks, like Oatly and the usual ones used in cafés, are just okay. But this was different. I could immediately tell something was special about it, and I really appreciated the care the barista put into making the drink. The person at the till mentioned they use a speciality oat milk from Bristol, and it all made sense. It had the perfect level of creaminess, and the natural nuttiness of the oats really came through – something that often gets lost in mass-produced versions. I only wish I could take some back with me to Newcastle. And yummy cinnamon bun, ofcourse Highly recommended.

I still get excited for my yearly visit to Landrace. Every single thing they do is of outstanding quality and in my opinion, they are one of the best if not the best bakery in Europe! The love and care they put behind their baking is what makes them a little gem in Bath. Daf, Andrew and their team are very knowledgeable and - although I tend to stick to their phenomenal cardamom buns and country loaf - they will happily go over with you what they have amongst their daily bakes. The service is yet another reason why one pops by Landrace. They now also have Landrace Upstairs, which serves sit in breakfast but also a full lunch and dinner menu. Think fresh pasta, bread and butter and seasonal rotating dishes - all paired with great natural wines. Bath needed Landrace.
