Beau's Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Beaumaris

Quirky little tea room, I came in here on a cold and wet day here in wales to grab a hot drink and warm up, there was a beef stew on the specials menu and it was not a disappointment it was delicious warming, wholesome and a perfect nourishing dish on a cold day! Thank you to the wonderful, friendly staff who made me feel very welcome, a must visit if you are in Beaumaris, the tea is served in a tea pot and delicate china tea sets, the cakes looked delicious but the stew filled me up. I also spotted a few knitted items for children to play with and colouring in, very family friendly. When asked this about items for sale I discovered that this wonderful family business supports small independent people by selling some of their items in the window one artist has prints for sale and there is a small girl who is raising money for RNLI by selling sweets, lovely to see people helping each other out in these hard times. After a cool walk around Beaumaris castle we popped into this tea shop for lunch and to warm up. The food was amazing, I recommend the ploughman's platter (they do NOT skimp on the cheese) and their scones which are served warm. Other half enjoyed a ham and cheese toasty. There is a good selection of speciality teas and a menu (sandwich, toasties, homemade cakes) to suit most including gluten free cakes and veggie (jacket potatoes with cheese and beans, the ploughman's, omlettes and toasties). The staff were very helpful and friendly. Warm and inviting atmosphere (especially on a cold March day).The building is a grade II listed from the 1600s. We had two pots of tea and a piece of Battenberg cake and a piece of chocolate cake. At the end we paid 15 pounds. The slice of Battenberg was very thin, the chocolate cake kind of broken. And just enough tea for two regular cups. I asked for more hot water and we didn't even get the amount of one cup.

Fairly nice place, way to expensive and the toilets are across the yard.

Will not go there again.

Regarding your reply I wished I would have taken a photo of the cake and the jug of water which was smaller than a regular up. Perhaps you would understand.

Please disregard my comment about the toilet. It was probably displaced and had nothing to do with my review of the cake, the tea...
