Neptune — Restaurant in Beaumaris

Saw an elderly woman looking pretty unhappy at the counter, I only overheard some of what she said whilst I was waiting to order however the elderly woman appeared to be quite visibly making staff uncomfortable. I'm unsure if she was related to one of the staff members or not, but she appeared to be criticising quite a young looking dude and misgendering him.

The whole situation felt gross, and I'm not sure I can eat here again after the extended wait for my food, which felt subpar compared to other establishments I had attended, as well as the lack of protection of staff who looked uncomfortable at what the elderly woman was saying. As a trans person who saw how the staff were treated, I wouldn't feel comfortable or safe telling my friends to dine here just from what I overheard.

I later saw the young man leave the establishment and watched him leave, it appears staff aren't treated well here. I left shortly afterwards as I felt uncomfortable. Do better in future!

Overall thoughts: Food: 1/5 - Food was greasy and didn't feel as nice as other chippies I have frequented previously. Service: 2/5 - The person at the counter was friendly, but the elderly woman around the counter made the vibes off. Atmosphere: 1/5 - If a staff member has to leave after other staff or relatives of staff are seemingly rude towards them, there isn't a good atmosphere and it shows you don't...

I Really hate leaving low star reviews however this Fish and Chip shop really needs a poor review the staff was not interested in what they was doing, no friendly welcomes ushered through like cattle and asked to wait outside for food this i could understand with current covid restrictions ... it wasn't as thought they was busy we was the only customers. we ordered five portions of chips and one steak pie and chips the portions was pretty poor ... the pie itself was hard like plastic the meat inside was crispy so i took it back for a return i did explain it was not acceptable to serve food like this... the young girl who took it from me didn't apologise she just said.. she will go and ask her manager what they should do a few minutes later she came back and said that's fine i will give you a refund for the pie.. "i didn't understand why she needed to ask if i could have a replacement the pie as it was in a really poor state" i was really hungry and asked if i could have a decent pie that had not been left in the hot cabinmate all day. i was given a fresh pie, that was ok not the best but OK... however it felt like it was given to me under duress! see photo poor customer service and food. Lady server was really kind and nice but the food was really really bad. The mushy peas looked so bad. I cancelled my order for them. The chips were full of green and black spots. The guy frying them should have discarded them after frying but all he did was standing there waiting for the lady server to shout orders in... Very very lazy. There was one saving grace and that was due to the chippy location. The chippy was turning over alot of fish and therefore the fish was probably bought in daily and was very fresh but the batter surroubdisu it was uncooked and not good....blame the lazy guy frying again. A client in the queue behind me told me the place was the next a few years ago.... But no gone really down hill. Shame really. Stir clear unless they get a new fryer person. The chips were the worst ever. Wow its bad. One star for the lady serving - thank you lady....and the freshness of the actually fish. But loses stars for the batter quality, oil needs changing, chips were green and balck in parts and just bad. Probably one of the worst chippys I've had.
