The Christmas German Market cannot raise a stein of gluwein to Albert’s Schloss’s classy culinary experience. The new restaurant is a showcase of what Birmingham can deliver in the dining space. And what a space! It is huge, most of its portliness is consumed within a single, high ceilinged floor (there is a small bar on the second floor too, which I presume opens in the evening). There is a large central bar area and a cocktail bar “tucked away” on the left hand side. There is loads of seating to accommodate the diners and drinkers. The serving staff mentioned that they have live performances on the main stage in the evenings. Albert’s Schloss definitely feels Bavarian. On entering, a high, square table centred on an open fire captures the attention of your frozen fingers. Long wooden benches and tables can be found nearby the entertainment stage. Dangling bulbs of various sizes hang from the ceiling, bringing a warm sparkly glow to the venue. For a venue that opened this month, the waiting staff were on it. I loved the personal feel to the service. Lovely, smiley, recommendations were perfect. I also enjoyed having each dish served by a different member of staff. The menu is refreshing. There will be many familiar dishes, but with German-ised names, and prepared in the German style. Albert’s Schloss even has a bakery on site. My Three Haus Breads were some of the best slices I’ve sampled from a restaurant. The cuisine can be described as high-end gastro pub. Given the high quality of the dishes and service, the prices, while expensive, are perfect value. Food was so good, I normally stop ordering at the main course. I pushed the boat and ordered dessert. I’m so happy I did. Albert’s Apple Strudel is the finest contemporary example of the dish I have experienced. The texture of the filo pastry, crumbly base and viscous, hot filling, was a joy. A classy venue well worth visiting. Open from 12pm till late.

Came here for a 30th Birthday. Stunning interior, looks amazing and a lovely feel. Loads of seating (can also dance on the wooden benches) and a roaring fire with seats around. Great drinks selections and prices not too bad either. The vodka coke was delicious and went down a treat! The food was amazing, it was nibbles/tapas style and such good quality. The bread was soft, the garlic bread was just phenomenal and my favourite was the spicy/garlic sausages. Amazing!!! The entertainment was exceptional, from a singer to a band and the dancers were a nice surprise (I haven't been here before so wasn't expecting them!) The staff were so so lovely, our table waitress was so lovely and patient (group of over 20) and she was so polite and friendly. Really grateful for her service and making the night good. Also wee surprise of a photo booth to take some great take away photo memories, loved it! Only downside was how busy it was, and I know it's largely down to me not been out for so so long due to covid, but the place was absolutely packed, couldn't move at all and some people were just really rude, pushing and shoving (not Albert Schloss' fault) I don't feel there was enough bar staff for the amount of customers, each time at the bar was a 15-20 minute wait. The staff were brilliant though, they were so busy and patient and cannot fault them would just have been great to have some more bar staff on if possible. Would definitely come back here, it's stunning and beautiful and the food and drink are lovely. Would recommend if you're looking for some entertainment while you're out and looking for something a bit different.

Our visit to Alberts Schloss German Pub left a very mixed impression. We chose this venue to celebrate a friend's birthday on a quiet Tuesday, which suited our preferences. However, confusion arose when we were instructed to order drinks at the bar, yet no staff were present at the bar. After a 5-minute search, we sought out a waiter to place our drink order, which included 2 glasses wine and a jug of water without ice. Even though we ordered at the bar, we were informed that the drink charges would be added to our bill, leaving us puzzled about the purpose of the bar order. This initial confusion set the tone for what followed. The wine glasses arrived very quickly but water was nowhere to be seen. 10 minutes later I went to look for the waiter and ordered the water again - jug of water without ice, the waiter assured me that the water is on the way. 5 minutes later - still no water. I went to look for the waiter again and I could not find him anywhere. The place was nearly empty so this was very strange. At this point 2 people sat at the table looked at me and asked if they could help me. I said, yes I just want some water. Turns out they were staff or managers, but at least the water finally came - with ice... At this point I could not care less about the ice, I just wanted some water. During the whole water fiasco we ordered some food - Chicken Schnitzel and a Burger. The water arrived at the same time as food. Unfortunately the food was very bland and I was feeling unwell for 2 days after having the Chicken Schnitzel. To make the matters worse there was a woman with 2 toddlers who were screaming at the top of their lungs, the mother wasn't even watching them, one of the kids was 15m from her rolling on the floor and screaming whilst she was having a drink at her table. This is not a kids will be kids situation, it was unbearable for everyone there. Initially we intended to spend a few hours there and I nearly went for a bottle of wine, but I am glad that we didn't as I could not wait to leave. While the interior and initial expectations were promising, our overall experience fell short. The intention to spend a leisurely few hours turned into a hasty exit In conclusion, Alberts Schloss German Pub has potential, but improvements are needed to ensure smoother service, better food quality, and a more pleasant atmosphere for all. At this point, I would consider revisiting for the ambiance but would hesitate to dine there again due to lingering concerns about the food quality.

Decided on Albert Schloss after having a variety of options due to a healthy budget for a corporate event. We made the wrong decision for this year's Christmas party is an understatement. The food was mediocre served on big plates to give the presence of grandeur I suppose but its flair had no substance. The Onion soup starter tasted as bad as it looked and all 3 who ordered it felt the same after having a spoon or two, the waiter happily replaced all 3 soups with some Croquettes. The mains were pleasantly better but again nothing to shout about a solid 5/10 and in all fairness to them they were generous with the vegetables. The deserts we had pre-ordered on a set menu were not available so had a choice of 3 other deserts which were shockingly bad. The chocolate roulade was a dry piece of Swiss roll with cream. However, we could have put the quality of the food aside as the service from the waiting staff Sebastian was very attentive (although our tableware sat for a considerable time after we finished each course) and the vibe within the place was pleasant. What made it clear we wouldn't be going back was the trainee manager who had an awful attitude and was impossible to deal with following miscommunication on the payment method which we were told categorically 4 days prior that we could make remotely via a link at any time after we had finished as the corporate card was in the possession of a team member who couldn't make it due to getting covid. The embarrassment after spending nearly £1000 and being made to feel like a hostage wasn't necessary as demonstrated by the other manager who intervened and resolved the matter swiftly. I'm not going to name her but I'm sure senior management will be aware of who this individual is and hope further training, and coaching is provided to develop her interpersonal skills in how to treat customers who have been misinformed. She was rude, threatening and passive-aggressive in her tone and mannerisms, understandably not something I want any part of. Take your money elsewhere thankfully there are plenty of amazing food spots in Birmingham.

We enjoyed lunch and breakfast (the following day) here. On both occasions we were looked after by Harry who was friendly, attentive and very pleasant. On both visits it was very quiet so there wasn't a great deal of atmosphere but the inside is very nicely appointed. It's nice to see a different menu, good beer selection and lovely pastries. The hot chocolate was excellent quality, none of your carburys drinking chocolate here! The fresh orange juice was quite tart, largely I think because of the lemon in it, so it tasted more like lemon with orange, but I appreciate you can't pluck oranges from the tree outside and have a sweet, deep orange like Spain! The paprika chicken was pleasant, quite a kick to the sauce and apple mash which was sweet if very subtle. I enjoyed the blackbirds dessert, needed more kirsch and cherries. The trifle was creamy with nice fresh bananas but a little bland. Breakfast, Turkish eggs, nicely done but lacked flavour and my Cumberland sausage and egg croissant was difficult to eat as a bun, without knife and fork. Curry ketchup very tasty. All in all we enjoyed it and will return to try more of the menu, I only wish bircher muesli was on the breakfast selection! Beautiful pastries and croissants. Breakfast on 14 Oct, looked after very well by Shanice. Delicious full English equivalent, great quality, fresh ingredients, served on a hot plate! Fresh orange juice sweet and delicious (an improvement from my first review). OH had the veggie breakfast and really enjoyed it. Nice music, clean and welcoming environment. This place should be busier than it is!
