I want to make this review purely because of how amazing the staff are and how well they handled an unfortunate human error. I came for dinner with my family for my sister's birthday and for my dad's 60th birthday, we ordered two vegan burgers and two meat burgers. When the food arrived I had had two bites of my vegan burger and realised it had bacon jam on it. I wasn't sure if they had a vegan version of the bacan jam so I asked our server and she said she'd go and check. About 10 minutes later we were told that the chef had made an error and put bacon jam on the two vegan burgers. Of course this wasn't very pleasant to hear, but the staff handled it perfectly. They immediately admitted fault, profusely apologised, told us they'd remove the dishes from our bill, said they'd add an extra 10% off our bill, and offered a free glass of prosecco for my dad and sister's birthdays. This was all offered to us from the get go, we didn't have to argue any case or ask for any extras, it was their way of apologising to us. When our new burgers came out, they were lovely. I've been vegan for 8.5 years, these errors have happened a good few times, but this is the best it's ever been handled. So I just want to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to the staff who served us yesterday for being so lovely. I forgot to ask for any names, so any person who served table Franklin at 5.45pm yesterday deserves some recognition and appreciation. It was a really hot Friday evening and it was busy, but they still took time to make sure we were okay and that we were looked...
Read moreMet up with some friends for some food and drinks. I've been to the one in Brindley Place which is nice, but I have to say this one is much nicer. We decided to go out on Thursday night, which is the not so new Friday night, so it was fairly busy. As my friends and I were meeting up after work, I got there a little early so bought a drink, 2 cocktails for £11.95 or was it £12.95, anyway for me as the non drinker I got a mocktail, didn't get the offer as there wasn't a huge difference, compared to the drinkers. There should be a separate offer for non alcoholic. My friends got their money's worth when they got there. Food was lovely, I opted for the vegan burger, not because I'm a vegan but just wanted to try it and it tasted like a real burger, my friends both went for the fishcake mains which looked delicious, they both devoured it. We opted for dessert, again I went for the vegan baked cheesecake, wanted to see if it was as good as mine. It wasn't, the cheesecake was very sweet and didn't look or taste baked, I've had many baked cheesecakes from different places and they tend to be creamier. The cheesecake was covered in a tangy coulis which I did not care for. Anyway we had a lovely night, although the music was very loud. The staff were super friendly, making recommendations for food choices. Will definitely be going back, maybe for...
Read moreIt doesn't strike me as the best place to eat if you're after a quiet meal - of an evening, at least. When we were there, it was packed out and REALLY noisy. The poor waiter had to almost shout. They do have a large and interesting menu but because there was a large group of us - about 14 - we were lumped with a set menu of two shared starters (one veggie and one meat) and about half a dozen rather conventional mains and desserts. Our table was not set for all of us and so it was a really tight squeeze - which meant the food on the table was massively over-crowded. Basically you had to eat from the tray stook in front of you - in my case a plate of sausages and scotch eggs mostly.
I had the buttermilk chicken, which was burned but edible. The chips were okay but obviously from frozen and there was about a tablespoon of slaw and the tiniest amount of mayo/sauce. It was cheap, but I would happily pay more for something I would enjoy.
The guy who served us was really lovely and very attentive but he was obviously run ragged. I'm sorry I can't be more positive. I probably would go again but probably to try the brunch, and definitely NOT as a group - I don't like my eating out experience to feel like a school canteen. Crammed in and being told...
