My Husband and I had a reservation for 18th July, for our wedding anniversary dinner. As we walked in we were greeted and my coat was taken. We were taken to the bar until our table was ready.... The bar staff were so friendly and chatty whilst preparing our drinks and asked if we were celebrating. We got talking about our anniversary a d they made me a lovely cocktail called The Bramble, definitely try this! After sitting for about ten minutes we were taken upstairs to our table. Our drinks were brought up for us. Where we were sat was a little snug but the atmosphere in the room was very relaxed and chatty. We ordered some warm bread to start and water for the table. I had the seafood and octopus ink Linguine. My Husband ordered Rib eye steak on the bone with fries. Both meals were 10/10. Sooooo good. If you like seafood, try my dish, you will not be disappointed. My second cocktail was The Queen bee margarita, again a beautiful cocktail. For dessert, we both went for The Ivy chocolate bomb, you will not be disappointed in this dessert. Your waiter comes over with hot caramel sauce and pours it over the bomb which melts it. This mixed with the ice cream and cream was sooooo good. This was out first visit to The Ivy, this will definitely not be our last. One last thing, they have a rewards programme you can sign up to..... Our waitress showed me the qr code and signed up straight away to start collecting points. Definitely worth it if it's going to a regular.

My star ratings might make it seem that I didn't like our evening at The Ivy, Temple Row, but we did have an enjoyable evening. The reception area to check in was tight and congested, but it was nice to see they have a cloakroom so you can get rid of your coat/jacket. Getting through to be seated was bustly and bedraggling as the bar is at the entrance and it was very busy. Once we squeezed and pressed our way through the seating area on that floor was spacious. We were happily seated along the back wall in the corner on diner type seats with velvet cushions, very cosy and a good view around the restaurant and just able to see outside the huge front window. The service was friendly and timely. The atmosphere was casual and quiet with a couple of birthday celebrations with song. The food wasn't as special as I hoped it would be, I understand the menu is British classics, but I expected at least a bit if a flavour/taste sensation. Eg, I had salmon but I expected it to maybe be best seasoned flavoured salmon that I'd had, I make salmon at home and there wasn't any difference I have to say and so there was no value for money for me. It was just "ok". The accompanying sauce was bland. We had cocktails, the first was really very nice - Temple Row Passion, I could taste the vodka and feel its effect! My second drink - a Mojito was packed with ice and cloudy lemonade - fine - but not much alcohol, maybe not the full measure. As I say we had a lovely evening but I think I'm unlikely to return or recommend as I think there are better meals to be had elsewhere for cheaper. I don't mind paying more for a meal out if I'm getting something that excites my taste buds, sadly the food didn't meet my expectations.

Unfortunately, the worst The Ivy experience I've had... and I've had a few! The service, the food, the whole experience has always been top tier at the Covent Garden, Tower Hill, Canary Wharf and Blackheath branches (as well as The Ivy Asia St Pauls and Guildford) so I went to this branch, in Birmingham, with very high expectations. What’s even more of a shame is it was one of my friends first time ever eating at The Ivy and her first experience was not a true reflection of what dining at The Ivy should be. The decor, vibe and food were all still really good, but what let this branch down was the very slow and very nonchalant service we received. - Our drinks arrived within good time but we waited ages for our starters. - The gap between our starters and our mains was so long that we had to ask our waitress where our dinner was AND it finally arrived over 1.5 hrs since our reservation start time! - An apology was only made after we’d asked where the food was. Even then, not once during our dinner were we asked whether we wanted another drink. We had the same drinks all evening. - We'd asked to see the dessert menu early on, while making our dinner choices and it wasn't brought to us. Deflated, we didn’t bother to remind her but decided to leave it and figured we’d get dessert elsewhere instead. In the end they removed our drinks from the bill, as a goodwill gesture, but the damage had already been done. Unfortunately, not a good experience.

I visited here for my anniversary lunch. Upon arrival I was greeted by a really friendly staff member who was really attentive and showed us to the bar area to wait for our seat. When we was seated we our order was taken quite quickly for starters and mains. We waited over 45 mins for our starters to come out, there were other families that arrived after us that were served their starters and even mains before our starters arrived. After finishing our starters we were still picking a little when my partner asked for the mains and politely explained we have been waiting an 1 hour and half now and we have our 2 week old son with us so would like this to be a quick lunch. In response to this is very abruptly told us that they wait for us to finish starters before serving mains as if we are clueless how these establishments work ?? I don’t know if she thought that we was a young couple we are naive but that does not warrant being spoken down to like that. We are paying customers like everyone else who was eating there. This really made me feel as though I would not want to visit back even though the food was delicious and really fresh it’s a shame. The lady who wears a suit with dark hair if it wasn’t for her this place would have gotten 5stars easily. It’s a real shame the decor and food is great here
