Great place to eat. Sam is a legend.

If you're searching for a culinary haven where delectable flavors dance on your palate, look no further than Dilshad, the gem of curry restaurants. Nestled in the heart of the city, Dilshad possesses an enchanting ambiance that instantly transports you to the aromatic streets of India. From the moment you step foot inside, the tantalizing aroma of spices fills the air, signaling an extraordinary culinary adventure awaiting you.

Let's talk about the star of the show: the curry. Dilshad boasts the finest curries I've ever had the pleasure of savoring. Each dish is a masterpiece, crafted with love and an expert hand. The menu offers an array of options, ranging from traditional classics to innovative creations, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate.

One of my personal favorites is the fragrant and creamy Butter Chicken. The tender chicken is bathed in a luscious tomato-based sauce, infused with a harmonious blend of spices that will leave you craving more. Another standout dish is the rich and aromatic Lamb Rogan Josh. The succulent pieces of lamb are delicately cooked in a thick gravy bursting with flavors that will transport you to the heart of Kashmir.

For those seeking vegetarian delights, Dilshad caters to your needs impeccably. The vegetable korma, with its medley of vibrant vegetables in a velvety sauce, strikes the perfect balance between indulgence and wholesomeness. The tangy and tantalizing Chana Masala, brimming with chickpeas and aromatic spices, is a must-try for those looking to embark on a vegetarian culinary journey.

Apart from the curries, Dilshad also offers an assortment of delectable appetizers and sides. The crispy and flavorsome samosas, paired with an onion bhaji, make for a delightful start to your meal. The naan bread, freshly baked and served warm, is the perfect accompaniment to soak up the flavorsome sauces.

To complement this extraordinary dining experience, the staff at Dilshad goes above and beyond to ensure your visit is truly memorable. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to guide you through the menu, offering suggestions based on your preferences. Their warm hospitality and passion for delivering exceptional service further elevates the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, Dilshad is a curry lover's paradise. From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported to a world of tantalizing flavors that will leave you enchanted. The masterfully crafted curries, the warm and inviting ambiance, and the attentive staff combine to create an unforgettable dining experience. If you're seeking the best curry in town, Dilshad is where you need to be. Prepare to be captivated by the magic of their culinary expertise and embark on a flavorful journey you'll want to relive time...

After reading responses to customer reviews from the owner, I was wary about posting my review but I believe in fair reviews to help guide others and make their own decisions. We visited for my dad’s 80th birthday who has dementia. And he said he remembered this restaurant and wanted to go here for his bday. I booked via a form on the restaurants website. I had a quick response to say all booked. Great. We arrived there last night and was sat at our table. First impressions were it was a bit cramped but didn’t think much wrong and just sat down. We ordered food. The staff were really helpful although we had to ask for my daughter’s drink 8 times before a jug of water was brought over. They don’t serve alcohol which we weren’t told when we booked so had to go to nearby outlet to purchase but no big deal. One of our party had ordered a main but the wrong dish was wrote down and brought out. Soon replaced by the correct meal. Don’t know why the waiter thought someone would order the same starter twice?!!! We noticed the restaurant was very noisy and lots of delivery drivers waiting around. We were asked to leave just as we finished our meals as people were stood not far from our table waiting for it. We weren’t told if any time limit. Made us feel a bit rushed and uneasy. We then had to weave our way past other diners to leave nearly knocking people on the head as the aisles between tables are so narrow. Customers were waiting for tables in these aisles!!! Food was good. Service was ok. Space very limited and not great seeing the rude responses to customers reviews on here. People should be allowed to leave honest reviews and not get the rudeness given back by...

I went to and ordered from here for years as a kid (we’re talking 1990s) as it was my local - my parents would go here too before I was born. But then we moved away.

Fast forward to 2019 I found myself moving back to the area and I had to go back for old time sake. I was hooked. With older and more developed tastebuds, and the experience of a thousand other restaurants in between, I was able to truly appreciate the quality of this food.

It was my regular regular, the only takeaway curry I’d ever get. During the pandemic I would order here weekly. I was living alone so this Sunday night ritual kept me going through the dark times as a light at the end of the week.

Later, I would eat in regularly too and with friends. The staff were always friendly. It was always fine decor-wise but they had a bit of a refurb a couple of years ago so it’s lookin like a million bucks.

You can order anything off the menu here and it won’t disappoint. portions sizes are decent. food is hot fresh and delicious.

I haven’t been here for a while as I moved away and it’s no longer my local (I have another place I go to at the end of my road which is great) but I do think about it often. Whenever I’m asked what the best curry I’ve ever had is or what’s the best is in Birmingham, without hesitation I always say this one.

I’m sorry I haven’t been back here in a while but I promise I will again some...

This is my first time ordering from this place, never again! As a fellow Asian seeing the turmeric colour on the “biryani” is bright enough to make a grown man cry. The poultry was undercooked the meat & chicken, the prawns were inedible impossible to bite into! This is not biryani this is fried rice!! It is very yellow they gave a lot of turmeric to it. I’m afraid if we eat it, it will cause a very bad health risk me and my family are very disappointed will not be ordering from this place ever again! We’ve had to chuck the so called biryani in the bin. I should have listened to the negative reviews about this place before I ordered.

After a bit of a hiatus I went back to the dilshad this weekend. I honestly wanted to cry. It was as good as I remembered. Food was excellent. We always said this was the best Indian restaurant we had ever been to. No other place has ever come close to this one for us. We used to be regulars but we moved house the owner remembered us 😭, will try and get here more often. If this place ever went I’d be gutted just a shame selly oak isn’t a haunt for us oldies, keep it up dilshad you are the best!!

Dining in at Dilshad Restaurant offers a satisfactory culinary experience with nice naan breads, flavorful curries, and good service. The family naan is particularly noteworthy for its generous size. However, opting for a takeaway reveals a different story. Consistent curry leaks due to poor quality, unsustainable containers detract from the overall experience. Urgent improvement in packaging is needed to enhance the takeaway experience.
