Montys Deli Sandwich Bar — Restaurant in Birmingham

If I could give it zero stars I would.

I asked for some grated cheese in a pot for my child and I was ordering two other meals so not like it was the only thing I wanted. Now I have asked for this numerous times in numerous places and have never had anywhere say they couldn’t do this.

First got told they didn’t have any cardboard pots, I was staring at some cardboard pots for salad so asked if they could put it in there. Apparently these cost money (well duh) and I offered to pay for the cost of the pots. They said they could put some in some paper, really? Even though I was offering to pay for the pot. Literally they would have made profit from the pot and cheese I was asking for… I repeat, I was not asking for this for free, I offered to pay numerous times

Anyway, the woman looked at me like I was crazy for asking, asked someone else who said no, and then asked someone who I presume was the manager who also said no and told me I could buy a whole salad with cheese or just have the cheese in paper…

In the end I walked out, customer service is literally zero with very little care. It almost seems as if they don’t want to run a sandwich shop or deal with people. I was offering to pay for the cheese, the cardboard pot while also buying 2 other meals.

In the end walked down the road to philpotts, asked for exactly the same thing and they were more than happy to provide it.

If you want terrible customer service and deal with people who have very little common sense...

I’m a manager of a firm and have used this sandwich establishment several times over previous years. I was very much looking forward to food however sadly I shall NOT be returning back after my latest experience. Badly lacking customer service, customer experience gone downhill, arrogant and patronising staff member; after I pointed our attention to sandwich preparation and foreign particles that should not be in my sandwich. I was made to feel unwelcome, and felt I had no appetite after or want leave with the item. Went to pay for the sandwich and they kept sandwich behind till like ransom until payment received- seriously when I earn well enough to pay. If I had been in my suit would I received the same service? I guess not. I’ll endeavour to stick Pret in the future. My hard earned money is good elsewhere. A sad disappointment. A horrible place - I strongly advise anyone considering eating here to turn around and find somewhere that actually values customer health and safety. After eating here, I became extremely ill with food poisoning symptoms - an experience that no customer should have to go through. This is not just disappointing, it’s a serious issue that points to poor food safety and hygiene practices in the kitchen. On top of that, the food itself was subpar: poorly prepared, and nowhere near worth the cost. But the fact that I left not just dissatisfied but physically unwell is unacceptable. Food safety is the most basic responsibility of any restaurant, and they failed at it. Until management takes immediate steps to address these problems, I cannot recommend this sandwich bar to anyone. A restaurant that disregards the health of its customers shows a serious lack of ethics....
