There was a black lady dressed in black attire not serving that I tried to smile at several times but she would look and then look away sternly or seeming mad or offended. She was at the door and completely ignored me when I said bye. The people inside near the door need more etiquette. People on the outside guarding the door were wonderful. Had about 3-4 servers ask us if we were okay and asking about food/drinks which we felt a bit too much in the space of 5-10mins. Eventually maddie our server came along, she was superb! Even added in an extra bday treat and took off a drink we didn’t like from the final bill. She was efficient, attentive and friendly. The food was nice 7/10 as it was expensive for what it was. The mocktail drinks were horrible m watery especially the ginger one. They were out of the lavender one which I wanted. The kiwi and blueberry drink wasn’t too bad. It was busy on a Saturday. The music, ambience and decor was stunning. The manager came to ask if it was all okay at the end near leaving time. Would return for a special occasion. Just hope I don’t see the lady at the door. She made me very uncomfortable. Maybe due to my race and ethnicity. Sticky toffee pudding was rich and delish! No parking too which was not too bad as it was summer X

I have visited Tattu in Edinburgh multiple times and was satisfied by the service and food quality. However, I can’t vouch for the service provided at Tattu Birmingham especially by the reception team. Upon booking a reservation, we were advised there was a 90minute dining time for customers on a la carte menu (which btw is the most idiotic business idea I have ever heard of. I understand the idea of time limit for bottomless menu or all you can eat buffet but for a la carte? Do you really kick your customers out the door if they went over?!?). I was late to the reservation but my mate arrived within the 15mins grace period but was told they would not seat half a party due to the time limit policy. So my mate was forced to sit in the bar waiting for the next free table because based on their TIME LIMIT policy, we missed our reservation. They continued to refuse seating my mate even when I was around 10 minutes walk away. On arrival, the receptionist had to cheek to say it was for us to have the best Tattu experience. Come on. First of all, it is just Tattu, a normal fancy restaurant serving elevated Chinese foods, there is nothing exquisite about the experience. The chef does not come out to speak to us about how they source the ingredients from the deepest bed of the ocean all of those fluff. Secondly, we ALL have smart phones! We can literally look up the menu on the website or through pictures etc. We are not living in the stone age?!? I am not sure whether the receptionist was messing with us or she seriously had no idea how laughable it sounds in 2024. They finally sat us down. The foods were up to Tattu standards, the waitresses were lovely. We really took our time to enjoy the foods because that was how good they were, and purposely asked them to give us some time to rest before desserts. We managed to stayed for more than 30 minutes beyond the TIME LIMIT, which again proved how ridiculous the idea was. Oh, did i mention that for the first 30 minutes or so after being seated, the table next to us was empty while there were people waiting at the bar? They automatically added a service charge to the bill. The kitchen and the waitress that was serving us deserve all the tips and NONE should go to the reception team. I am not sure whether Tattu as a brand has got themselves carried away or the one in Birmingham has inflated ego due to a lack of competition

Went for a anniversary meal on a Saturday night. We had the emperors tasting menu and a bottle of wine. The food was incredible and the atmosphere was great. Unfortunately we initially were sat at a table next to the kitchen and had to asked to be moved as was a little disruptive. In general the staff service was great but we felt rushed through our meal and it ruined the experience. We were given a 1.5hr booking (standard on the site and only option) the tasting menu is quiet a undertaking but found ourselves been hurried though it. After the meal we had almost half a bottle of wine left and within 5 minutes of finishing the desert we’re asked for the table back. (We had also been seated 15 minutes late) Normally wouldn’t be a huge issue but the meal for 2 was just under £400 and we would have expected that if we wanted to relax through the menu this may have been managed. I ended up waiting for my partner but he toilets with a glass of wine as felt the pressure to let them clear down. This really let down what was some incredible food. If you go, be prepared to part with a lot of money and possibly not have a lot of time. If I was to go again it wouldn’t be on a Saturday night. Tattu need to consider booking lengths as it felt like profiteering asking guests to spend money but turn tables so fast.

Went here for my sister’s birthday. It’s a nice and pretty restaurant, of course we sat in the ‘yin’ dining area that was beautiful with the Cherryblossoms and moody lighting. For the price I feel like the food was good but not mind blowing. A lot of it was overly sweet including the monkfish I got, it was incredibly tender but I asked for chilli oil to add some more spice and different flavour. I’m glad they have halal chicken and I wish I tried more of their chicken options but most of the food we enjoyed was very nice. I loved the chicken truffle shumai, fried rice and the mocktail I ordered. Everything was plated really nicely and did taste as good as it looked but would’ve loved more depth of flavour, everything was either sweet, salty, or spicy, except for the starters which were my favourite. The birthday surprise I felt was a bit lacking, with just happy birthday written in chocolate on a plate with a fortune cookie and a cup full of dry ice…would’ve at least expected something a bit more substantial since we didn’t order any other dessert. Overall it was good, not sure if I would come back again, at least not for dinner, maybe a light lunch just to enjoy the starters again. Overall: 7/10

My friend booked for us to eat here - I had no idea about the place before arriving. I was late due to train delays, and the staff were fine about it but explained they would need the table back by a certain time. No probs. No complaints about the food except for the price! All served relatively quickly after ordering. I’m not one to be won over by fancy decor but if that’s what you’re after, then this place will be for you. Or if you’re after a night out for a special occasion, maybe this would be good option depending on what your priorities are for a good night out. Here’s what we had - Sticky Beef Short Rib - £14.90 Chilli Salt Baby Squid - £11.50 Beef Fillet & Soy - £35.75 Hoisin Ginger Black Cod - £36 Side Broccoli - £7 Duck Egg & Sausage Rice - £8 Cherry Blossom (pud) - £10.95 Drinks - Aperol Spritz -£13 each - so flat, avoid!! Complained and had a new one given to us but paid for two. The second was also flat. Bottle of still water -£4.50 Malbec - £46 A charity donation was added to the bill. Plus service charge - total: £243.11. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars, but went for 4 because the food, although pricey, was tasty.

Amazing restaurant. The decor and asthetics are beautiful. Very nicely done. The illuminated blossom trees are a really nice touch. The marble and even the stairs gave a real wow factor. Music a little on the loud side but it was ok. We had a both at the back of the restaurant which was nice and actually buffered a lot of the music out. The booth had hanging lights and surrounded you by blossom flower walls. The cocktails were very nice and nicely presented. I enjoyed the service. The staff were very pleasant professional and the service was very quick. A different person served your drinks, took your order and delivered your food. They all seemed to have their job. The food itself was very nice and well presented. The spring rolls were great and the sauces really went well together. The portion sizes were perfect for the two of us. The prices were obviously on the steep side but you can understand why given the type of experience, service and food your recieving. This isn't your standard Chinese restaurant. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience a good meal and pleasant night out.
