So we go in, it’s warm and buzzin’ Dj is mixing well! Customers are drinking and dining enjoying themselves - it’s a nice atmosphere. My friend keeps saying “it’s alright in here isn’t it?” He said it like 3 times. I order a couple of drinks, bar staff is decent and serves me quite quickly.
We take a seat and ask for a menu from the smiley faced food service staff. She returns, we order food which arrives shortly after - job’s a good’n or so I thought…
Half way through the meal I go to the gents, on my downstairs I see another smiley faced food server coming up, I greet her with “hi how’s it going?” She walks straight through me like I didn’t exist! I didn’t hang about as I needed to use the toilet.
I return to my table and continue eating and drinking. Then I notice 3 servers hanging around us doing nothing. One of them returns with the bill, puts it in front of us and walks off. Bearing in mind I’m still eating and drinking - I didn’t ask for the bill.
5 mins go by and another sever comes over and says sharply… “you are sitting where my next booking is, can you finish up and stand somewhere else”. How Bloody rude was that! I was still eating and drinking, I hadn’t decided if I wanted a sweet to add to my meal, but this server wasn’t smiling this time. I said where’s the reserved sign on the table, she said we don’t use reserved signs. So how am I, a customer, supposed to know that they need the table?
Then to top it all the server that blanked me when I said “hi” comes over and literally demands the table as her next customers are waiting. I told her I wasn’t moving until I’d finished eating and drinking.
Is this how Alchemist trains its staff?
I’m a paying customer sitting infront of you willing to spend more money and you want me out so you can serve someone else. That’s ridiculous!
Alchemist your food service staff need monitoring, I actually am a member of staff at a hospitality University around the corner! We don’t train our...
Read moreWent into the alchemist this evening expecting to bar hop across Birmingham. Once we were served our first cocktails from Idris we decided to stay for the rest of the evening. The bar uses molecular gastronomy to take cocktails to the next level - not just to be flashy but to enhance the experience. Cocktails are only £1/£2 more than most bars but are innovative and even the classics are something you'll never see in another bar. Anyone who complains about the pricing doesn't realise what they're being served. Go to spoons you degenerates. Quality ingredients and attention to detail brings together the menu with excellent staff such as Idris to carry it out. He single handedly carried the bar with efficiency I've never seen in a mixologist. He was friendly, professional, and made our night. Thank you. The venue itself is beautiful even down to the toilets. We ate a few bites (buttermilk fried chicken and Korean vegetable bites) which were delicious and just what we needed. The cocktails we tried were: piña co-lava lamp, T&T, French Kiss, Caremelised Jungle Bird, Screwball, and a Mai Tai. All together our night at the alchemist was amazing and I cannot compliment Idris enough. I would have returned our glasses to the bar after each round but the staff cleared our table before we had the chance! Service was incredible. I'm both upset and thankful that I don't live locally - otherwise I think I'd be broke coming in every day! Thank you to the team, keep up...
Read moreWho knew that The Alchemist could whip up more than just mind-blowing cocktails? Well, let me tell you, their breakfast game is on point! 🍳 We decided to shake things up and try their breakfast on a lazy Sunday morning, and boy, were we in for a treat.
First things first, forget everything you thought you knew about breakfast. The Alchemist doesn't mess around when it comes to cooking up a morning feast. Every single item on our plates was an absolute delight, cooked to perfection.
And get this—when they ask how you want your eggs cooked, they mean it! You can even mix it up and have each one cooked differently. Talk about catering to all tastes, even the slightly quirky ones (like mine)!
But it's not just about the eggs; it's the quality of the ingredients that really sets this breakfast apart. From the first bite, you can taste the difference. And they don't stop there—think cherry tomatoes cooked with garlic, taking your taste buds on a flavor journey you won't soon forget.
Now, I'll be honest, I'm not usually one for toast. But let me tell you, this toast and selection of bread? Absolute game-changer.
Long story short, our breakfast disappeared faster than you can say "delicious." I can't recommend it highly enough! Whether you're a cocktail connoisseur or just looking for a killer breakfast spot, The Alchemist has got...
