A beautiful cozy place with lovely decor. The coffees were delicious, as was the pesto pasta. Ordered a chicken sandwich which was tasty and filling, and the Bandari, which was okay. I felt, for the price, which was almost restaurant price, I should've got a much bigger portion. But what I got was nice. There was one thing I found really cheeky. I was expecting the Bandari to be served with naan bread, as it says on the menu. So, I was amazed when it was served with a couple of slices of white bread toast instead. No one said anything, no one apologised. It was as if they were hoping I wouldn't notice. But of course I did. There's a big difference between naan bread and white bread toast. I complained and was told they'd run out of naan bread. But no one communicated this with me which I found ridiculous. The chef should've notified the waiter who should've told me at the time of placing my order, or they should've told me before putting the dish down in front of me, thinking I wouldn't notice or complain. They were just hoping I wouldn't realise which was absolutely ridiculous. I complained, and told the waiter I should've been notified when ordering. To be fair, he was apologetic and got me some extra wraps as a gesture of goodwill and knocked 10% off the bill which was a nice gesture. My wife really wanted the Swiss roll Persian style cake, so it was a shame they didn't have it available when we were there. All in all, it was a nice place, beautiful decor, cozy atmosphere, and the food and drinks were good. They tried to rectify their so called error with nice gestures which I appreciated. A good lunch...

Read moreI had to stop in Birmingham city centre to catch up on some admin and emails, and I came across Papillon Coffee Shop right in the heart of the city.
The location is very convenient, with secure public parking right next door. I decided to sit inside, and from the moment I walked in the service was warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, with soft background music that made it a perfect spot to focus on some office work.
The menu leans more towards brunch dishes and pasta options. I ordered an omelette, which came in a very generous portion and was delicious. I ended up staying for almost two hours, and to my surprise the prices were very reasonable—especially for a coffee shop in the city centre.
Overall, Papillon is a hidden gem in Birmingham if you’re looking for a relaxing place to eat, work, or just enjoy a coffee. I’ll definitely...
