Decided to pop in Selly Oak Starbucks.. What a huge mistake. It was like walking into an office. I counted 9 laptops on tables and one guy was using 2 on a table. Another was drinking water out of a highland spring bottle, whilst shoving pomegranate seeds in his mouth. Now as I’m registered disabled and use a stick I have to sit on an upright chair. I was unable to as all the tables and seats were took up with people using laptops. It was discustjng. One table that had 6 chairs round it was occupied by two people eating there own lunch out of lunchboxes and gulping there own water. I sadly had to leave as I couldn’t sit at a table due to it been used as an office for people. On leaving I politely spoke to the manager Charlotte. What a joke. I explained my issue, to be told that anyone can sit to a table and eat food they bring into the store (not bought at Starbucks). They do have to have bought a drink from Starbucks. Utterly ridiculous. So if you feel you need a warm, spacious area that’s free WiFi and heating and lighting and free furniture to pop your laptop on then go to Selly Oak Starbucks. Charlotte will welcome you. It is not a nice Starbucks just used as an office and Skype meetings!!! However this Sunday I’m popping in with my Sunday Roast and will buy a bottle of Starbucks water and enjoy the joys of free WiFi, heating, lighting, soft furnishings. Might ask Charlotte to...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at this Starbucks. I understand that I had taken up excessive seating, but when I first sat down, the place was nearly empty. Instead of politely asking me to move or adjust my setup as it was starting to get busy, an employee (who I think may be the manager) told me along the lines of, “If you’re not buying another drink, you’ll have to leave.” This felt especially unfair because I had already purchased two items (a vanilla iced latte and a white chocolate and pistachio cake) and was thinking to purchase another drink but just not at that specific moment that she had asked. To make matters worse, I saw someone who hadn’t bought anything sitting there for two hours without being asked to leave. I get that stores can enforce seating policies, but the way I was singled out made the experience feel unwelcoming and frustrating. Also, I had helped this specific employee a few days prior after she knocked down a few crisps packets and picked them up for her. I didn’t have to do that but out of kindness I did, but this is how she treats me instead. I won’t be returning to this location which is a shame because I am a...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this location. As my husband was looking at the menu, the waiter abruptly turned around and, with clear attitude, told him, “The line is down there, mate,” before rolling his eyes and making a face as he turned away. While my husband didn’t notice, I did—and the entire interaction felt unnecessary and, quite frankly, uncomfortable. The waiter even made eye contact with me but didn’t acknowledge his behaviour, let alone offer an apology.
The atmosphere felt unwelcoming, and the treatment we received gave the impression of something deeper than just poor customer service. We ultimately decided not to order and left. As paying customers, we expect professionalism and basic courtesy, and unfortunately, that was not our experience here.
Wouldn’t...
